Yep! I agree..if the taxpayer is footing the bill, the taxpayer should decide. The Catholic church is the largest bank in the world and could cough up the cash to cure starvation in africa! yet we have to pay for some narrow minded, bigot to come here and wave a lot..

no thanks. (all due respect to catholics, no offence intended)

Well next time the President of the US of A comes here, please tell him to let the American public to pay, I am sure that you will get a middle finger from most Americans

Pfft, I guess we should do that to everyone who visits here on a state visit then

Well, since when has the government of the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland been subject to the whims of some religious cult leader?

Since 1707 :24:

Everyone has the right to an opinion, whether you like it or not

True, I just dont think everyones freedom to voice their opinion should be paid out of tax payers money, especially when that opinion has already cost us loads of money in aid to third world countries who's problems are caused by the pope.

The whole point is, that he is leader of the Vatican, which is its own sovereign state

So what? I dont see our country forking out millions of pounds for state visits from other useless, tiny countries and I dont think a time where we need to tighten our belts is the right time to start. Only countries we should be having state visits from are commonwealth and countries of importance on the world stage to us like the USA, China, ect. I dont like seeing millions wasted so some bigot can have a stage to spout crackpot views. I dont see us forking out millions for a state visit from Ahmadinejad so he can make huge public speeches over here. Do you?

Lol...I hate all this pope rubbish. I respect other ppls religions but I just cant accept him with what he has said about the gay community especially when I have friends and I know alot of ppl who are gay. Its just not right. But, I suppose, ppl are entitled to their own opinions.....:(
