WWE had a PPV just now, Capitol Punishment

.........

Anyway not as bad as it sounds. First match was Kofi vs Dolph Ziggler. This match was pretty good as an opener. Dolph won with a sleeper to win the US Title.

R Truth then arrived which was awesome. Then Miz had an interview which was even better.

Miz vs Riley was a good little match, Riley won by pinfall.

We then had a backstage segment with a fake Barack Obama. Vickie Guerrero did something. I wasn't really paying attention.

Big Show vs Del Rio. The match didn't start for a while because Mark Henry put Show through a table. Then he got back in the ring with his injured knee and struggled on. Not much happened here and Del Rio won when the ref decided Show couldn't continue.

Wade Barrett vs Ezekiel Jackson. This was a good little match, certainly the best match Jackson's ever had. Jackson won with a torture rack.

Backstage we had another Barack skit, this one was actually funny becuse Santinotried to use the cobra or something and Barack's guards leaped on him. Good stuff.

Punk vs Rey was really great as expected. Match ended when Punk tried for a GTS which Rey reversed into a 619 attempt only for Punk to reverse that into a GTS and win. Great stuff.

Christian vs Orton was really good but not as good as their match last month. Orton won with an RKO. After the match Christian claimed his feet were under the bottom rope but the referee didn't show interest, Orton laid him out with the Title.

Jack Swagger vs Evan Bourne was a fun little filler match but the crowd didn't care because they wanted Zack Ryder who is pretty awesome. Bourne won.

Then we had a terrible segment where Obama came out and talked. Some people thought he was real. Anyway then Booker T invited him down to the ring and they did a spinaroonie segment.

This filler time could have been spent so much better, like Sheamus's home video's of Dublin, or Zack Ryder.

Main event was Cena vs R Truth. That bad man Cena won when a plant (a kid at ringside placed there by WWE, not an actual plant) threw a drink in R Truth's eyes and Cena rolled him back into the ring and hit the FU for the win. This match wasn't that good really. It was pretty much a paint by numbers Cena match and I think the crowd sensed it. I mean Truth was never winning here but there are better matches for him to have.

Overall this PPV wasn't great but it was good. Fell off a bit towards the end with a underwhelming main event and a terrible segment beforehand. But the other matches made up for that.

I had the pleasure of listening to Spanish commentary on my stream which was pretty awesome in itself.

I'd say Rey vs Punk did, as well as maybe Orton vs Christian. Plus, that match had a terrible finish, it was pretty great up until then though.

I'm 50/50 on this Hogan/Warrior thing being a TNA angle. If you haven't seen Warrior's vids (do you live in Wales?) go and google them. He's really gone this time. Anyway it's not above something Vince Russo would book.

The noises Hogan has been making and storylines that are happening in TNA, I thought it looked like a Hogan v Sting fight on the way.Hogan is washed up and it's going to be crap. Wish he was just fuck off out of TNA and take Eric Bishoff with him.
Sad to see this morning that TNA have now let Desmond Wolfe go.

Yeah I think Hogan/Sting is happening at Bound For Glory in October. At least penciled. in. It's just me speculating but other people are sort of having the same thoughts regarding Hogan/Warrior. Both matches would suck, which is why Hogan shouldn't do it. It's whether his ego dictates he can resist another match.

He used to wrestle as a Batista tribute act in Wales lol. There's always big Batista chants for him.

Shawn Michaels on Raw next week, with Raw Roulette.

As a huge HBK mark.... I'm definitely looking forward to next week ;)

and yeah, he had a Batista chant going for him tonight :24:

As bad ias this seems... I really wish that Cena would get injured and put on the shelf for a good year or so, maybe more... cause then they'd be forced to push someone else and we wouldn't get stuck watching the five moves of doom. Then again, that's what Orton is turning into as well.

Along with all the PG13 shit, this is the main reason I can't be arsed with WWE anymore. Pay 15 quid to watch John Cena overcome insurmountable odds for the 3,572nd time!

Lol PPV, they are barely profitable for WWE any more and TNA have never consistently profited from PPV. Not to say it's dead, the PPV market, because it isn't because UFC are showing us the way to sell PPV's. It's just that WWE build their PPV's in the week prior and don't give people any reason to buy whereas TNA give the fans absolutely no reason to buy a PPV. The only real difference is WWE sometimes draw PPV numbers from people who don't buy the shows (Like Wrestlemania for example) whereas TNA don't. Plus, it's awfully easy to watch a PPV online for free. Google "Watch WWE Royal Rumble online for free" into realtime and about 10 streams pop up.

In other news July 17th is CM Punk's end date on his contract and has said he's leaving with the WWE Title because July 17th is the date of the next WWE PPV. In Chicago too, expect a very pro-Punk crowd that night. If he does leave he'll go back to the indies for a bit, he won't go to TNA because he has been very critical of them in the past and doesn't like a few people in the company anyway. Plus he was disillusioned when he left the first time.

The only place I see Punk going is back to ROH... especially since they're getting a TV deal worked out. There's no way in hell he's going to TNA, especially seeing how they treat the talented guys there, and push the 50+ guys. If ROH really takes off, I could see Joe and Styles go back there as well. I think I was reading earlier today that Jay Lethal is headed back now too.

Can't see Styles going back there, Joe, maybe. Ever since they finished his unbeaten run, TNA have seemed to be at a loss what to do with him.

Styles has been one of the most underutilized talents on that roster over the years... I know he's decided not to go to WWE in the past, but I could see him going to ROH if they were able to secure a good TV deal. TNA is going the way of WCW, without the successful run prior to the collapse. The old guys are more important than the younger talent, and it seems as though it's going to be that way for as long as Hogan and Bischoff hold power in the company. They made a huge mistake in not hiring Paul Heyman to book things.

A J Styles was involved in THE match of the last PPV, he's one of their prized assets. I think people over exagerate too much about the ammount of old guys being pushed in TNA. Sure there are quite a few of them but if the're doing a good job, what's the problem. The likes of Angle, Steiner, Jarrett are still putting on great matches and there is also a good mix of impressive younger tallent there too. Mr Anderson is the current Heavyweight champion, I'd hardly call him an old guy.

been a fan of pro wrestling since 1985...pretty cool to see a thread in here for it...

Chavo Guerrero asked for his release today to pursue other opportunities...tired of being held back as a mid carder in WWE...could possibly follow others to TNA...maybe even a run in ROH...as even Eddie did that before he came back to WWE after his issues...

Incredibly well done. It felt so real. Have him do this every week until he leaves. Then when he comes back uninvited have him try to run promo's but get cut off. Awesome promo.

Spoiler for next week.

CM Punk gets suspended, then fired by Vince Mcmahon (who actually appears on the show), they then have a triple threat match for the Number 1 contendership, Del Rio vs Rey vs Swagger which Del Rio wins. But then at the end Vince and Cena have a promo and Vince essentially says he doesn't have enough faith in Cena beating Punk and preventing him from taking the WWE Title away from WWE. Cena eventually persuades him and the match is back on, John Cena vs CM Punk (which also leads me to believe Del Rio will get his shot at Summerslam. The stipulation of this match is now that if Punk walks out of Chicago the WWE Champion, Cena is fired.

By the way everybody should watch the main event of the ROH PPV from the past weekend, Edwards vs Richards. Any promotion, I don't care if it's WWE, TNA, or even NJPW. You will not see a better match this year, awesome from start to finish.
