I'm glad they did away with ECW, it was a shell of it's former self. Now I wonder how long before we see Tommy Dreamer in TNA under the name "Dreamer" claiming he went to TNA because he WANTED to.

ECW was shit, it wasn't extreme, if anything it seemed like a place to relegate wrestlers to when you wanted them in the future but had nothing for them now and didn't want to completely get rid of them

you forget, veteran wrestlers can have egos so they sometimes feel they have to get over anyway. but it's also why i dont like the round two, taker doesnt need to wrestle another veteran at wrestlemania, it should be a newer guy and let him over, at some point.

True, beating Taker at Mania would be the biggest rub a new guy can get since Hogan put over Warrior at WM.

They either need to let some new guy end the streak or let Taker bow out undefeated as a reward for sticking with the company during the Monday Night Wars and somehow making a gimmick that screamed "Short Career Warning" work for 20 years.

im still confused about the whole story line to be honest, WTF are they thinking? they've come up with bad ones for new/newish wrestlers but two veterans? sounds like a crap shoot to me. unless HBK plans on retiring. it would seem foolish to let a veteran beat taker's streak.

They likely have a plan. Well you'd hope.

I can't see Michaels taking the streak. But, once his holiday is over around Summerslam, I can see something happening whereby Taker is put in a position where he needs a partner. And he seeks out Michaels to bring him out of his retirement. Hey presto!

Initally, WWE had plans for Taker to lose his streak to Mr Kennedy at Wrestlemania 24, and this was planned back at Wrestlemania 23 (after Kennedy had won MITB) but it fell apart due to the fact Kennedy got injured and just generally fell from grace after that.

The Streak is a big thing in the WWE because look, Wrestlemania is WWE's biggest moneymaker and advertising this match will guarantee big buyrates because of the streak and also the possibility of Michaels retiring. Plus, Michaels vs Undertaker was a duperb match last year and they'll do it again this year. Having the match with a younger guy just doesn't have the same attraction.

Honestly, I don't think it'll ever end. There are some young guys that could have been positioned for it over the years. Brock, Lashley, Kennedy.....none of them really proved worth it. It's something you'd only give to someone absolutely nailed on for success and to become a legend, and I honestly don't see anyone of that ilk coming through any time soon.

Being the huge HBK mark that I am, I'm hoping he ends up beating Taker and ending the WM streak. If you go back and look at Shawn's career since coming back almost a decade ago, he's done almost nothing but put people over. I think he's had one heavyweight title reign during the entire time. He did the job to Hogan at Summerslam and then Hogan backed out of losing to HBK later on. He put Angle over at Wrestlemania, and then lost to him again later on. If anyone is deserving of ending the "streak", it should be HBK. Plus, the more I've thought about it, the more it doesn't really make any sense to have a younger guy end it. Like TD said, the guys that were at one point considered to end it aren't with the company for the most part (the three he mentioned aren't, but there are others like Orton that are still around). If it does end, it makes the most sense for it to be ended by someone whose legend more than likely will never be eclipsed by anyone, and losing the streak to HBK honestly wouldn't hurt Taker very much in the long run either.

From what I've heard, both guys are expected to take time off after Wrestlemania (which both of them usually do), but there hasn't been any talk of Shawn actually retiring.

then come back in time for the next wrestlemania and have a nice last match to end his career. probably against HHH

that shit didn't work for WCW and it won't work for TNA, I can't believe they moved to Mondays. Speaking of Mondays I can't fucking wait to see Kane take out Pete Rose again next monday!

TNA should not have moved to Monday's, they do still have the chance to move back to Thursday's and to be honest that would be the best thing. I mean 1.0 last week was awful for a live show, and the taped show was even worse, 0.8.

I can see why Hogan wanted the Monday move but he, and the rest, just have to acknowledge that they will never beat WWE raw in the ratings, will never get Raw down to lower ratings (I guarantee you, the lowest Raw will be is 3.2). They should just focos on putting on a good show and trying to get their ratings up, and the move back to Thursday's would help that I think. Until then, no chance, and the ratings will just keep dropping.
