The link between marijuana and schizophrenia saddens me.
(Disclaimer for the argumentative: this is not to discount or ignore the many physical and psychological disorders {some worse than schizophrenia, some less debilitating} linked to many other legal substances, it just fits with the thread and I wanted to say it.)

To imagine going your whole life maybe self-medicating depression, for instance, with regular marijuana use, only to unlock a genetic predisposition to schizophrenia by fucking up your neurotransmitters...sad.

Marijuana can turn on that expression? I had no idea.

People abuse drugs all the time. Will power and just giving a fuck about your life helps deter that. There is a million more important things in life then smoking and drinking. You just have to relize that.

ps retro I would rep you again if I could bro !

Marijuana can turn on that expression? I had no idea.

Though definitely not an expert at all, I've gone to a couple seminars about it, held by a Doctor I trust a great deal, and it seems there is a pretty strong link between long term, relatively heavy marijuana use and middle age onset schizophrenia.

Doesn't look like the marijuana causes it organically, but sort of pushes it along if you're genetically predisposed. Some can avoid the onset if not for the pot use. :\

Hmm, that doesn't entirely surprise me. It's kind of like the whole alcoholism thing. It's always unfortunate to hear about things like that that could be avoided if people made different choices.

But at the same time its not gonna turn a level headed person into an abusive sociopath with murderous tendencies.
In most cases its gonna mellow out some of the more high strung people, and just like with any sort of substance, if you have some sort of psychological problem treating it with something unprescribed which is generally harmless to a majority of the population is not going to guarantee a safe effect on you personally.
Using that as a basis as that its completely harmful is a little unfair because the same thing can be said about alcohol. And even with all the adverse side effects most diharrhea medicines have the FDA still approves their products and those cause anything from mild dehydration to in some instances death. Sign me up for that

I shall refer you back to my disclaimer, I meant it.
Marijuana can apparently sometimes pull the biological trigger for schizophrenia. It's an interesting link. fin

If marijuana should be illegal because people get high and hurt others then knives should be illegal because people use them to hurt others. If someone gets high and hurts someone then they should be punished. But they should be punished for hurting someone, not for getting high. Of course, the one person you should be allowed to hurt is yourself. That's no one's business but your own.

Really been done to death on here, this subject. But as it goes, if I want to smoke a joint, I'm not hurting anyone but myself so it's no one elses business and that includes the police and the government.

It makes no sense to make it legal. Those who say that alcohol and cigarettes kill, should realise that you need a whole lot more of that to kill you than compared to drugs

Those who say it will kill off the cartel really don't know what they are talking about, the cartel has a vast operation will potentially billions of dollars, that if made legal, would make the head of the cartels richer than the current richest person in the world.
