Real Football (Soccer to you Yanks) Thread

Me too, made the game seem so much bigger. It says a lot when at least 6 Premeir League games this weekend have more on them than a cup final.

The BBC are slowly dwindling on sports coverage sadly. They've lost the Grand National, F1. And they don't show any live football after this season. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost MOTD, I really wouldn't.

The Nou Camp pays a fitting farewell to Pep Guardiola with a 4-0 win over Espanyol. Messi got all 4 goals to take his tally up to 72 for the season, there was a nice moment after the fourth when he and Pep embraced, joined by the whole team. Phenomenal record for Messi, a 73% winning percentage for Pep. He'll take a year out or so, and he'll be back. Fortunately for football, Lionel Messi will keep going. He's only 24.

After his break...perhaps. Guardiola will have his pick of any job when he decides to come back, that's for sure.

West Ham see off Cardiff 3-0, and 5-0 on aggregate, to get to the play off final. They'll play either Blackpool or Birmingham who meet on Wednesday.Overall I want Blackpool to win, just to get Holloway back in the Premier League

Arsenal have signed Podolski for next season, undisclosed of course, but somewhere between £10-13 million almost certainly.
That's a great signing, look forward to seeing him play in the premiership. He was one of many who tore England apart in 2010.

And looks like M'Vila is on his way too, if reports are to be believed.
If he comes, I'd be chuffed. He's a genuine talent.

Then it's a race for two North American's, Dempsey and Hoilett.

Indeed, a very poor record he had. yes he won the Carling Cup, but with his terrible win rate it's not really seen as a success. His signings mostly failed, the whole Suarez thing was a PR disaster, he looked unprofessional during interviews, and he finished 8th this season just gone. Apart from that he did a great job.

Liverpool fans seem to be opposing Martinez getting the job, personally I think they'd do well to get him.

True. They seem to want Rafa, which I don't see as a good move personally. Plus I think it would almost be worse for them because if he does bad they won't be able to accept it. And blame someone else. Like last season (refs, Man United, Evra, Wenger, the FA, Man United)
