I'd say Rossi is much better than Bojan.

In the long term Cesc will replace Xavi but he'd initially be brought in to play in a revolving role with Xavi and Iniesta.

Next season Barcelona could potentially play 70+ games, Xavi/Iniesa cannot play that many games, especially with Internationals too. Same goes up front with Messi, Villa and Pedro, and they need a better alternative than Bojan.

I think Barcelona need to work more on getting a bigger squad. Buying more players seems to be the way, though a couple may leave. Expect to see more of Thiago next season in midfield, he's like Iniesta, but Brazilian.

The highest compliment ever paid him was when Zidane said he would have loved to have played alongside Paul Scholes. That from one of the greatest. He was a legend, from an early age you could see the talent. But yes the time came for him to retire. He'll be continuing in a coaching role which is a good thing.

Scholes was the best English midfieder I've ever seen play

Better than Gazza, better than Platt, on a different planet to Lampard.

Assured in possession, lots of goals, loved a tackle. Quality and should have been playing for England for far longer than he managed.

Paul Scholes was a rare breed of player who was only ever in the news for what he did on the pitch and not for who he was shagging, what ridiculous fashion item he wore or for rolling out of China White's pissed and fighting with photographers. Wish there were more players like him around.

Be interesting to see how they do without him!

oh, I know, buy some foreign guy who will do half as good a job and make the national team weaker by keeping some young lad with potential out... ;)

Fat Sam's the new manager of West Ham, have got mixed feelings about this. I hate the kind of football he plays but pretty football has done fuck all for us for the last few years. We're going to be the team to beat in the championship next season and playing ugly might be the only way to go straight back up. The excuses for players last season suffered from serious lack of motivation so maybe some fat, ugly, sweary Brummie spitting when he screams and kicking their arse might be just what they need.

I think he's a perfect fit tbh... Straight back up West Ham come

...and hopefully stay. Newcastle rely on the 3 points we get from you at St James' ;)

Loved a tackle??? Would help if he got the ball... How many needless red cards, did he pick up over his career is ridiculous...
Still a great player, wouldn't say the best.

What about the 'tackle' he did on that Man City player? Not only studs showing, but the player had to get stitched up

There's worse tackles than the one he did on that City player (I genuinley forget who it was). He never did learn to tackle no, but he mastered everything else. He ran games at times with his eyes closed.

Morning paper talk seems to suggest Modric to Old Trafford, would be a pretty good signing.

Yeah, I'm just using what's known as the Alan Hansen defense... when someone gets mugged on the pitch, hark back to 'better times' were violence on the pitch was okay!

Was that the one in the F.a-cup semi-final... I missed that game but heard he got sent off.
But I do think England's national team would have done better with Scholes & Gerrard with Lampard on the bench... Will be a hard player to replace as will giggs who I rate highly.
