Re: The Conservatives In Exile Club

Yeah the bull with her not knowing Africa was a continent. What is up with that. Is she really that stupid? And the fact the sniping is anonymous is real classy also.

The battle is over. time to regroup

I agree, I think someone needs to go back and study Buckley and figure out where in the hell we are going wrong.

Personally I think my doctrine will be they way to save our party:ninja But I gotta finish it:(

I also think we need a young, successful Washington outsider for a candidate, and unknown, clean, untainted and ready to kick some ass

I think she musta pissed off one of the higher-ups, and now they wanna make sure she stays off the national stage. Or maybe it's an ambitious candidate who views her as a threat. Either way it's politics as usual, which is to say dirty and unnecessary.

Possibly, but remember, whomever the Right picks, they might have to deal with another good prospect from the dems.

NJ Mayor Cory Booker, I mean he's on the list for certain.

A very badly planned war ignoring the signs of what would happen in the way of unrest once Sadaam was removed

Spending along with the republican congress at record levels

No child left behind is a joke

That is a start

The guy is no conservative.

Then why didn't you guys start the "Conservatives in Exile" club back in 2000?
Bust was no friend to the conservative party.

Re: The Conservatives In Exile Club

never heard of that guy

first order of business to get all the old farts out and some new blood

I can not believe the pundits have Gingrich listed as a potential for 2012. Too much baggage IMO

Bush's main problem is not paying attention to a well put together cabinet, he has the mental horsepower doing the planning, but his own agenda has taken priority since day one.

I do not think anybody thought he would be as bad as he turned out.
And besides the alternative was Gore

Bush won because people voted against Gore rather than for Bush. Same with Kerry

This time you got a guy who was a bigger con artist. and you had a lot there were voting against McCain

See that's the problem, the RNC says "We need to get a bigger bastard...that last one wasn't enough of a dickhead"...

They don't understand that they need a new face, a fresh start...enough with the almost dead sell outs already

Well I mean they went out on a limb and grabbed Palin......Why can't they cultivate some good new talent?

Hell for that matter, if the issue is that Palin doesn't know anything..Well let's fix that, her and a ferw others.

Condaleeza Rice (sp?) would have been great, but her ties to the Bush administration kinda makes her fruit from the poisoned tree

Rice never showed me anything special. She reminds me of people that are brilliant but are too smart for their own good. And no way she goes anywhere due to the ties to Bush. Probably she contributed to a lot of his bad decisions.

I think Palin could be formidable if she takes Stevens spot. She is not the dummy that she was made out to be. She just got caught in a whirlwind with no time to prepare. That was a huge gamble on the part of McCain. had he swallowed his pride and picked Romney I think the race would have been really close.

I am not losing sleep on this one though. If Obama was gonna win then it was better to be decisive. That will do a couple things. It will force the reps to rethink what they have been doing. and it will force blacks to rethink things and bring some accountability for them shooting themselves in the foot and blindly following Sharpton and Jackson. But with that comes expectations from Obama and how they react when he fails to deliver will be interesting.

Personally I think the expectations are so high, that it's going to be hard to deliver. For anyone, if McCain got elected it would still be my opinion.

There is so much broken that doesn't meet the eye, that there are years of re-construction ahead. regardless of afiliation

i think we can all agree on this :clap
you mentioned a new face for the GOP.....'tis a good observation, imo (personally, i'm not a fan of palin's, tho)

all the campaign rhetoric aside(from both sides), i feel it's one of the reasons for obama's victory....i know his generalized mantra of change was taken by everyone to be about bush -and there's truth in that- but i always felt it was a recognition of a changing gobal situation, as well.....and that is something that i, for one, don't feel like many conservatives "get"....i mean, the old cliche is that the republicans are about the status guo

imo, both the junior bush's and mccain's attitude (through my biased lens) was reactive, rather than proactive.....again, not meaning to debate specific policy here, just a general observation.

hey....i'm trying to offer constructive criticism....it's in all our best interests :)

Re: The Conservatives In Exile Club

Oh and $35billion for a US automaker bailout....Fuck that too

I caught the last hour of the senate committee hearings last night. I love the scare tactic by Gettelfinger. He said nobody would buy a car from a bankrupt company. The UAW wants status quo. :thumbdown

Anyway this bailout is not a completely done deal. From what Dodd said at the end there are a lot that are against it. And if it goes I think there will be some strings attached. Also it is for $25 billion. although it is expected more will be needed later. In addition this is supposed to be a loan like was given to Chrysler back in the day.
