PCs were fun in the old days...playing Frogger, Solitaire...wordpad, paint. Now when we need them a lot, they are all so shit. Can't count how many times Firefox has "Not responded". And once one program fucks up, so does the sound mixer, and YouTube, and iTunes. So THEN I have to restart the stupid shit. And it makes a couple of stupid beep noises because oh my god it must've been handling too much, oh that poor stupid PC, what a deadshit of a piece of technology. And this laptop came with so many useless features like HP programs that give it a tune up and support blah blah, waste of space. Can't describe just how bad they are. Not to mention every time I wake it up from sleeping, it takes it five seconds for the stupid mouse cursor to move even though I am moving it like a fucking spastic.

By the way, why hate Mac users? If you ask me, THEY HAVE A FUCKING BRAIN :D

SO have I got a brain, bet you Mac users can't customise their computers at all

I don't have a Mac...yet. I've never been rich enough to buy one...maybe later this year anyway.
But customise what? I don't need to customise anything. It would be nice if Windogs 7 starter would allow even just a mere wallpaper...

Well Kimmeh, its about keeping hold of the news about Windows, I got my Windows Home Premium for a snip of what it is worth in the shop right now. How did I do that? Oh I got wind of some info on techy sites that it was going for lower price.....though I had to pre-order like months before it was released, that is why I'm loving W7 at the moment, dirt cheap plus it isn't a bad OS like Vista was :D

I bought mine because I rarely got to use the computer since my mum was dating online 12 months ago, I didn't buy it for Windogs. I bought mine because it was cheap, and I thought "Yeah, I can tolerate a small one"...not the story I live by today. Maybe I was naive and young and dumb back then, but how can so many Mac users, regardless of computer needs, always be happy with Macs while PCs, there's so much variety, one model won't fit all, more risk of wasting your money to me.

Trust me, I've met so many Mac users who wish they hadn't been so non-conformist and just got a PC.

I admit, when I first used a Mac in my music class in high school, it was tricky. But, maybe with practice I'd hope I'd get used to it.

They work quite differently, and they can take a bit of getting used to. Everything is far easier on a Mac though. People that switch find themselves doing so much more with their new machines that ever before.

In your opinion.

Frankly, they're pretty similar. I can navigate the Mac os because I am used to windows, it seems to me that over the years Mac has made a conscience effort to "Windofy" their GUI.

they are similar, and if you look at the history of the two OS's, you can see how windows has slowly moved towards the Mac, not the other way around.

As a user its the little things that make the Mac OS a great one. Like if you need to see your network prefs, for example, how many clicks does it take you to get to be able to change an IP? Things like that are just much closer on a mac, fewer windows, fewer obstacles. And then you've got great UI features like Spaces, which is a godsend, Exposé which makes window management a breeze, TimeMachine, which takes the pain out of backing up recovering files, QuickLook for previewing documents, plus of course being able to search your fully indexed harddrive in an instant. And that's just a few.

By making the basic tasks as easy as possible, it frees people up to do much more complex things than they normally would. I've switched so many users to Mac over the years, and watched them go from using their PCs for internet and emails and some really piss poor looking "designs" in Word or Paintbrush or whatever its called on the PC, and within a couple of months of using a Mac they're editing movies, publishing nice websites, sharing photos with their family around the world etc, recording music and podcasts, making DVDs of their home movies etc etc

Why do you think the Mac is the creative individuals computer of choice? No, it's not "fashion", it started way before computers ever became cool. It's simply down to the way the OS works - it makes it as simple as possible to achieve great results. And with much less technical knowhow.

To keep a PC running smoothly you've got to have a reasonable level of knowledge, on a Mac you just don't.

It's not to say that windows is a bad operating system, version 7 is pretty cool, and so much better than previous versions like the abomination that was Vista. But it's still a long way off being as easy to use and powerful as OS X.

It proves that the Mac is non-customisable, yeah you can order add-ons but when wanting just a new mobo and cpu, you have to change even the hard drive and casing plus monitor and keyboard *facepalm*

I agree its a major disadvantage about owning a Mac. If you are a big geek and like to fiddle around with hardware, a Mac is not the right system for you. I am an Apple Engineer and I have to say that Macs became less 'repair friendly' over the last few years.

I still own a PC server, just to geek out on ;)

Oh that sucks if the Mac has become less repair friendly, that is a massive drain on resources and money
