in my experience, the main difference in the hardware is the price.

it's the microsoft software nightmare that gives pc's a bad name.

they run just fine under unix or linux.

i think there's a much better value in running a pc under open source software than buying apple.

Just won't give up the good "fight" on Linux, huh? :D

Until I was about 19-20 I always used PC's, my dad is an AV Technician and he built all our computers for us. Then an ex gave me his mac laptop when he upgraded, and I've been in love with them ever since. I've had this particular laptop for almost 3 years and it still works perfectly, I've never had any issues with it. I don't think I ever had a PC that could go that long :D

Yup, I agree :thumbup

I've had many bad experiences with PCs especially with virus and many others. The former was my biggest problem despite all the protection i had on my PC. On the Mac however, I had it running nearly 3 years now too with no anti-virus protection etc and I've not had any problems. It's totally awesome :D:thumbup

The hardware for Mac is exorbitant compared to what you can get from building your own pc even with slapping on windows

The iOS for Mac are cheap, but there is hardly anything else to that except an operating system plus a few free applications that you can hardly call really good

The only thing that is reliable about those three letters are MACaroni & Cheese or a Big MAC tasting mighty good right about now. :D

:24: :24:

Unfortunately, MACaroni & Cheese and Big MAC - i don't savour :p

I think you're just getting mighty hungry now :D

Apple-MAc are still the BEST :thumbup :thumbup

Lucky dude :thumbup as you guys can build your own PCs. I am jealous with that kind of an ability, wishing i can also do the same :( So for non-tech savvy, non trouble-shooter expert for PCs like myself- The MAcs are more reliable than PCs ;)

I hardly doubt that, but I wished that Microsoft could make a better OS, though Windows 7 is good.

Believe me, if Mac OS were as popular as Windows, you would have viruses as we Windows users do

:surrender This can well be a never ending debate, eh? :p I respect ur position on PCs and am sorry but i will stand firm for my Mac. Basing from my experience of 3 years with NO PROBLEMS.

The Pcs I had b4 the Mac all gave me problems within the first year which was very inconvenient- time consuming, money wasting :( I don't know how to trouble shoot problems and have to leave the PC for days at the shop to be repaired. I have to depend on the geek squads to repair the PC and it wasn't a fulfilling experience on my part....:ninja

So am sorry but my loyalty is with MAC ;)

I just came back from McDonalds actually. The Big Mac was great as well as the nice cold large Pepsi. I dunno...

You realise not all mac owners are completely uninformed. I've said several times on different threads that I know there are mac viruses out there and I know a mac is not immune to getting them, and I'm not the only person out there who has that knowledge. The big deal is that you're far less likely to get a mac virus than you are a PC virus. That's just common sense - PC's still dominate the market so it makes sense to target them.

Eventually Macs will equal PC's and even overtake them in popularity, and that's when we'll start to see more and more viruses and eventually the same need for antivirus software that you get as a PC owner. But right now, it's just not the same.

:homo: 100 %

maybe off topic : I had been wondering if maybe the lesser popularity of Mac is bcoz of it's price. :willy_nilly:

I think a lot of people are misinformed. Like co- workers/friends of mine who plan to buy PCs have so many complaints as to viruses/crashing and doesn't last as long as Mac. When I inquire why not buy a MAC- the response is-"it's too expensive" IF one is able to see the difference tho when all of the expenses add up for repairs and anti-virus protection etc for a PC- one ends up paying much more than having had owned a MAc ;)

It does put some people off :) if you're lucky to have the money to use on getting one then they have a lot of pros, but a lot of people can't afford to get a mac when a PC is cheaper, at least starting out.

But I was putting the links up because Mr. Mac himself (EdGray) continually too spout out aloud that Mac's are uber reliable and uber safe as too not need an anti-virus software, and any 'criticism' too point that out is like declaring war against anything Mac

:humm: Mr Edgray hadn't been around for a while now eh?

Well, in my more than 2 years now using my Mac ( running 3 years now eh, i believe. See, I can't remember but sure does with the limited life of functional capability if it were a PC, I own. I should be buying a new PC right now, if that were the case :p :24:) I haven't had the need for any anti-virus software

I will see if that is the case in a couple of years, they do have the tendency to die, just ask my friends, they have even written a song about it :24:

Much worst I believe in owning a PC  Years of my bad experience in owning a PC with constant repairs is my teacher ....Never again will I subdue myself to owning any PCs. :p

EXPERIEnCE is the best teacher :D:thumbup

I know a repair guy for PCs ( who had been in business for more than 12+ years -Oh yes business is booming as he has lots of customers with PC problems :p ) and he himself owns a MAC for more than 10+ years now....His son is my co-worker and his dad the repairman even recommends him owning a Mac. His advise.....just save up for a Mac -it's worth your money Son :24: :24:

I've had my pc for nearly 4 years now and it's still running like a dream. *touch wood*
I've not reformatted it once, although I really should since I only did an upgrade to win 7 last time.

Mac are overpriced, everything they do is overpriced. 25% of what you pay for in a mac is the logo. The iPad and macs and iphones are nice pieces of kit, but I couldn't fathom paying so much to do less regularly.

I haven't had anything major go wrong with my pc, the only thing I can remember is crummy operating system (Millennium Edition and Vista) really hogging the system resources to the point of them crashing on a regular basis, it isn't to do with the hardware, they even go wrong on Mac. Mac hardware and PC hardware are basically the same, with aesthetic differences as in you will see that Mac dvd-rom drive is inbuilt inside the monitor, just imagine if just the dvd-rom went faulty, you would have to send in the monitor to get the dvd-rom fixed, not necessarily with a PC where you can get external/internal drives where you can plug in just a new drive
