Islam-Aren't there some verses of the Qur'an that condone "killing the infidel"?

I was kinda hoping you would elaborate in your own words and not copy and paste, but...please dont get me wrong, i am intrigued by the fact that only there eyes are allowed to be shown!
Lots of religions believe that to cover yourself is chaste, nuns outfits can quite resemble those of muslims, what i find difficult to comprehend is why to cover the face?
People read expressions through the face...in fact in sometimes is a much better form of interaction than words! I could find it very offensive to have a conversation with someone when i cant see there face.:D
In Islam, a woman may show her face and her hands. But there are some strict Muslim women that feel the need to cover their faces. =/

I find it disturbing that the only way you can explain your beliefs is my copying and pasting and cant seem to give a personal and thought out explanation. I honestly believe you would jump off a cliff if the Quran told you too!
No, I would not. If the Holy Quran told me to jump off a cliff or do something stupid, then I wouldn't follow it. I studied Islam and the Holy Quran; every law Islam has is there for a good reason.

I copy and paste some of my answers because I really don't have the time- so why write it out when it's already written out for me?
If one of you wanted me to answer personally, then you could just ask.

I consider it a way for men to keep their property private so other men won't lust after it, as it's controlled by a male dominated religion. Yes, I'm agreeing with you. :)
You are wrong. Islam is NOT a male dominated religion. In the Holy Quran, Allah makes it clear that men and women are equal:

In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful

"For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in God's praise,- for them has God prepared forgiveness and great reward. (The Holy Quran, 33:35)"

"O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well-acquainted. (The Holy Quran, 49:13)"

So am I right in assuming this is how it's interpreted in fundamentalist Muslim society in the Middle East? How about in the States? And do you consider it a sin?
This is how it's interpreted everywhere. The Holy Quran has only one right interpretation. It doesn't vary by country. Yes, personally I consider it a sin for women not to dress modestly. I am a Muslim woman and when I go out I dress in a decent way.
And what happens if the Muslim woman thinks it's a sexist and out dated interpretation and decides to take a jog in athletic shorts and a sports bra? I know it's not a problem in the States, but what about a Muslim country in the Middle east, would she find herself chased down by the "morals" police?
I cannot answer this question because I've lived my whole life in the US, so I do not know. Yet again, I doubt that a Muslim woman would think the modest dress is sexist because Muslim women believe in the Quran and understand why they must dress modestly.

So the standard for decency is different depending on where you live. The Quran was written how long ago? Standards of decency in most of the civilized world have changed since then. If I have it correct, in early America a woman showing more than an ankle was considered indecent.

My question still remains unanswered: Is it a sin for a woman to go out in a jogging outfit, shorts and sports bra? If the answer is yes, then my opinion is that Islam has some serious hang ups.

Sorry for repeating myself, but I have read of morals police in Middle Eastern countries chastise women who don't conform. Is this culture or religion? It really does not matter as they are intertwined.

The point is complying is more than voluntary, I believe it's required. Fundamentalist Muslim cultures appear to be very intolerant of non-conformity just like fundamentalists of any religion no matter how hypocritical the standard is especially when it comes to sexist views of a male dominated religious hierarchy. Dress standards are controlled by the local religious authorities. How strict is a matter of interpretation. I don't think any reasonable person these days consider jogging apparel as lewd.

In that case, how many women religious leaders are there in your religion?
Well there are some, but less then the men. But it doesn't mean that Islam is a male dominated religion because of that. Look at the presidency of the US, they're all guys, just because there isn't a female president it doesn't mean that women there aren't equal. same thing with Islam.

The Holy Quran doesn't get old or out of date. Its rules stay forever. and yes it is a sin. because she will be exposing more than her face and hands.

It's culture because the Holy Quran says that you can't force anyone to do anything they don't want to do. And jogging apparel is lewd. if a guy sees a girl in jogging apparel and she's hot, like her tummy is showing and its all toned and her legs. then of course he's gonna lust after her. Islam isnt a male dominated religion. I gave you direct verses from the Quran that equalize men and women. I dont know why youre worrying more about peoples actions that whats actually written in the Holy Quran.

This chick is full of it. American Muslims girls all don't dress like that.

There's a Muslim personal trainer at my gym and she dresses like everyone else. You wouldn't even know she was Muslim unless she told you. And she is religious, she honors all the Muslim religious holidays and practices them, like that holiday wear they don't eat until sunset or something like that, she honors that.

She wears shorts and warm up suits, stuff like that. And her hair hangs high in a pony tail, she doesn't cover it, she lets it flap in the breeze, dude.

And she is decent, she's a nice person. She's married with two young kids. And for you to imply she doesn't dress decent is offensive and inaccurate. She is Muslim but she's an American too, who works for a living and wears what all the personal trainers wear.

And type in your own words. Or just give the link you're copying from and we can read it ourselves.

I saw this on Dateline or 20/20. There was this Iranian dude on there, and he said that when the daughters are raped over there, they bring disgrace to the family. Females that are victims of rape need to be ashamed and punished for being victimized.

Then the guy help up a dinner plate and threw it on the ground and it shattered in pieces. And he looked down at it and said, "this is what my daughter is worth if she is raped."

There was this other father whose daughter was raped and he put her in a body cast for two months as punishment. A body cast, anyone who's ever had a cast on an arm or leg knows how uncomfortable they are, imagine your entire body wrapped in that shit for two months.

I've never been to Iran and these two cases may be the exceptions to what's normal over there, I don't know. But I sat there speechless with my jaw hanging open when I saw that shit.

what they did is wrong. the girls didn't do anything, they're rape victims, it isn't their fault. and those fathers are disobeying god because they're hurting their innocent daughters. I dont see what this has to do with islam though. did the fathers say "Allah said to do this and that"? the they stuff do is all part of their culture.

no its not. they're disobeying Allah by the stuff they're doing. how can it be based on islam if they disobeying it?

Because they are followers of Islam and doing it in the name oftheir religion. Why arn't theyexpelled from their religion instead of being allowed to carry on worshiping at mosques? Something stinks big time there!

And not giving a crap about how others dresses is against your religion which says dressing in certain ways is a sin and which you've been making a big song and dance overand now you suddenly dont care.

I don't see how Islam is telling me to care about others clothing even if they're sinning. its their business. and i was just telling you what was a sin in islam.

So what exactly is the point of your religion then if you are not required to care about what it teaches? Sounds pretty pointless to me.
