Islam-Aren't there some verses of the Qur'an that condone "killing the infidel"?

Well that's what they believe is right. They're Muslims but what they due is based on culture, ignorance, or some other reason because it's not allowed in Islam to kill. It's not like they're getting a verse from the Holy Quran saying you have to do that.

So I take it you dont follow any brand of religion, just the book?

Yet again you fail to distinguish between culture and religion.

Just because they're Shia and they do it doesn't mean that it's part of the Shia religion branch. It's forbbiden to harm yourself or anyone else. I.e. pretend that a Christian man murders someone, does it mean that Chirstianty allows murder?

Christianity loves muder, in fact genocide is championed in the Bible.

First. In Islam, oppression of women or anyone is forbidden. But I know what you mean. I.e. Saudi Arabia. Women have to cover themselves. But are they FORCED to cover themselves? No. They agree with the dress code. Rarely are women forced to cover themselves. Women don't have to cover their faces in Islam, so why do they in cover their faces in Saudi Arabia? It's because of their culture. Did you think about other Muslim countries? They're allowed to wear whatever they want and yet the women cover themselves because they believe in Islam and their culture is that way. The way you see Islam is through the media. And frankly the media is full of crap.

My impression is that the women's dress code is based on a culture that derives most of it's laws from it's religion. The culture and religion seem to be intertwined.

So as far as being forced, what exactly happens to a muslim woman who decides to walk down the street in cutoffs and a blouse tied up to show her belly? No problem?

I doubt that a MUSLIM woman would go outside without properly covering herself.

Sorry, wondered if you could elaborate on the reasons of sinning by donning less attire?:D
In the name of God, most Gracious, most Merciful:
And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment save to their own husbands or fathers or husbands' fathers, or their sons or their husbands' sons, or their brothers or their brothers' sons or sisters' sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack vigour, or children who know naught of women's nakedness. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And turn unto Allah together, O believers, in order that ye may succeed. (Holy Quran 24:31)

A Muslim woman who covers herself is making a statement about her identity. Anyone who sees her will know that she is a Muslim and has a good moral character. Many Muslim women who cover are filled with dignity and self esteem; they are pleased to be identified as a Muslim woman. As a chaste, modest, pure woman, she does not want her sexuality to enter into interactions with men in the smallest degree. A woman who covers herself is concealing her sexuality but allowing her femininity to be brought out.

I was kinda hoping you would elaborate in your own words and not copy and paste, but...please dont get me wrong, i am intrigued by the fact that only there eyes are allowed to be shown!
Lots of religions believe that to cover yourself is chaste, nuns outfits can quite resemble those of muslims, what i find difficult to comprehend is why to cover the face?
People read expressions through the face...in fact in sometimes is a much better form of interaction than words! I could find it very offensive to have a conversation with someone when i cant see there face.:D

Since she is a Muslim woman, she believes in the Holy Quran and in the rules of Islam. In Islam it's a sin for a woman to not cover herself.

So am I right in assuming this is how it's interpreted in fundamentalist Muslim society in the Middle East? How about in the States? And do you consider it a sin?

And what happens if the Muslim woman thinks it's a sexist and out dated interpretation and decides to take a jog in athletic shorts and a sports bra? I know it's not a problem in the States, but what about a Muslim country in the Middle east, would she find herself chased down by the "morals" police?

I find it disturbing that the only way you can explain your beliefs is my copying and pasting and cant seem to give a personal and thought out explanation. I honestly believe you would jump off a cliff if the Quran told you too!
