No, I am not and I expect everybody to be like that (and perhaps that's the reason many people hate me!! Let them!)

Answer me this Mazzikens, have you ever, even one time in your life done something that you believe to be wrong? If the answer to that question is yes(which it is whether you will admit it or not) then you are a hypocrite.

Courtesy can go both ways - man does a nice thing for woman; woman does a nice thing for man.
Chivalry however, is only man does a nice thing for woman. Chivalry is courteous.

You mean a woman cannot be 'chivalrous' though at the same time she could be 'courteous'??
I think some women are more chivalrous (bold, brave, courageous, courteous, loving, caring, etc etc) than men..
who still hold on to the old custom set by the fictional Don Quixote!:)

Depends if you think being 'chivalrous' is adhering to the old style or our contemporary style. You might be able to argue that a woman could be chivalrous as in that she is like the man in the medieval times who possesses brave, courageous, courteous traits. But still, back then, women weren't thought of to be any of those things.
Chivalry does not fit our contemporary style either because it's still only specific to a male. A woman cannot be 'a man performing courteous behaviour towards a woman'.

that's personal... i won't say I am an angel.
Talk about yerself, boy, the gals here are getting irritated!!

As Kimmy said the old custom is men-specific I would drop it and rest my statement here!

women are courageous, they're courteous loving and caring.......but the word chivalry describes a mans courteous behavior towards a woman.

Why do I feel as if we're discussing who's penis is bigger rather than the issue at hand?!?!

We're discussing whether or not it still exists in the 21st century....if you're not clear on the definition then you should perhaps look it up.

Ohhhhhh god I'm tired...lol

In 1910:

  • laying a coat over a puddle
  • paying for dinner
  • pulling out a chair
  • carrying heavy bags
  • seeing a girl home safely
  • helping her put her coat on
  • opens and closes the car door
In 2010:

  • sending regular text messages
  • posting loving messages on Facebook
  • caring for her when she's hung-over
  • cooking her a meal
  • uploading songs to her iPod
  • filling her car with petrol
  • letting her watch her favourite soap
Why?
Women do:

  1. 7 hours caring for children
  2. 3 hours paid work
  3. 4 hours of household chores
  4. 10 hours of leisure/sleeping
Men do:

  1. 3 hours caring for children
  2. 6 hours paid work
  3. 2 hours of household chores
  4. 13 hours of leisure/sleeping
Speaks for itself.

[The Sunday Telegraph, page 20, October 10, 2010].

Edit: statistics might apply to Australia only. After all, our husbands are ranked worst in the world.

Really? That's funny :p A news story I heard a year ago or so said American husbands were in the top three or something lol.

well I have no statistics to back that up, and I've never been to Australia so I have never observed any Australian families so I can't say what it's like there, but based off my observations here a lot of husbands are pretty lousy lol.
