I.... what?

You said it's a shame unlucky people could fall into thousands of dollars of debt, so he's trying to say you said gambling (where "unlucky" people fall into thousands of dollars of debt) should be banned.

It's a good try, for sure. But clearly reaching ;)

Thanks :p

Yeah, bit of a stretch. I don't class being hit by a car as the same kind of 'unlucky' as walking into a casino.

Pretty sure I know where this line is going though.

It appears most here get it. The U.S. health care system sucks. 1,000,000 Americans are bankrupted annually due to the inability to pay sky rocketing health care costs.

A few are like the lady in the cartoon in the OP. They just keep repeating the right wing libertarian propaganda about health care not being a right or attempting to make a flawed constitutional argument. Or even worse, making asinine statements that if government provides health care why not "hookers" (How fucking stupid was that comment?) television sets, cell phones or what the fuck ever. I'm sorry, but those kind of comparisons are moronic at best - there's simply no nice way to put it.

Health care is a monopoly. Health insurance is a monopoly. It must be regulated to provide equal accesss to all Americans. No American should have to go bankrupt because of the inability to pay hundreds of thousands of $$$ in medical bills.

Why is this so fucking hard for some of you to grasp?

Health care is a monopoly.
Owned by what single entity?

Well, the first two statements are hard to grasp because they aren't true.

Our health care itself is second to none

I defy anybody to show otherwise

Access is another story

I stand by the hookers comment. It is just as idiotic of an example as those who deny how far the govt can reach when given the chance. You want to make comments about libertarians fine. Don't go whining though when liberal fallacies are exposed.

*doo doo doo doo* (Twighlight Zone) music;)

I was just reading through the old thread about our healthcare system you started a while back.

What hit me when reading it this time around is that practically NO-ONE....even read or acknowledged the posts from Gillby and I about our awesome health care. (I think you and Moonie were the only ones)

I think you guys are more interested in keeping your crap health care just so ya's have something to debate over.;)
Go have a read and see what I mean.

No, we all can agree that our current healthcare system has problems, but the cartoon is absurd in suggesting that all of the problems would go away if we had single payer. I've talked to Europeans who really dislike their socialized HC systems, so its not like there is just one solution.

The asshattery never ceases to amaze me. One million bankruptcies per year due to health care bills and our health care is second to none. Un-fucking-believable how some people have swallowed the propaganda.

The health care problem in America is broader than just how much it costs. Americans, with their overeating and therefore self-induced health care problems that come with it, put themselves in danger.

Yeah...it's 1,000,000 over-eating lard asses that go bankrupt every year. Serves the fat fucks right. Silly me - I should have known.

Seeing as how most Americans are either overweight or obese/have diabetes then yeah it could very well be that one million people are suffering due to their own actions.

So who gets to pick who lives, who dies and who is forced into bankruptcy?

It will sort itself out on its own.

So - you have all the answers then. What's your solution?

Never said I did.

But you could start by dropping the restrictions on where insurance companies can sell their insurance. That would increase competition to make their product more attractive and affordable to more people.

Also, since a lot of health problems is from our over-eating, sedentary lifestyle, we need a change in culture.
