Unfortunately they did not have the super majority. How soon you forget that the 110th congress had more filibusters than any other congress by a wide margin.
Nothing got to the floor unless it had 60 votes.
Our representatives passed a mountain of bills where they went to the senate to die, lacking the 60 vote threshold. Hell, we couldn't even get them to the floor for a debate.
Weeeee??

You liberals keep repeating that crap. Must be that syndrome where if you repeat something enough it becomes fact. How can you not call having 60 senators anything less than a super majority. For fuck sake if you had 70 democrats and 11 of them voted to filibuster I suppose you still would say it was not a super majority. You ever think maybe some of those filibusters occurred because it was crap legislation?

Let me save you the trouble...

57 Democrats
2 Independents (caucusing with the democrats)
41 Republicans

That was the make-up of the 111th senate

I was going by the period of time where the republicans had 40 then 39 senators.

I thought it was a longer time period but was wrong... my bad.

that still is a massive majority. If you can not get 3 or so of those fake republicans in the northeast to side with a bill then it is not very bipartisan. You can rail about how the democrats were stymied. But that is as it should be if you can not get even 3 or so from the other side to defect. The filibuster is there for a good reason. It is meant to be a brake on passing lousy bills.

The left thinks it is all about being anti Obama. To some degree that is true. Rightfully so if he represents crap the majority are against. But you can not have it one way that only the right sticks together. The Obamacare passage was a clean sign of where many on the left voted against what their constituents wanted. And the left paid for it in the ensuing election. That is how it works.
