There are very few people who I sincerely feel that they have their head up their ass, and if it makes you feel any more special, you're one of those few
That is assuming you actually believe what you write.
( obviously not pointed at me but I thought I'd comment anyway )
It's programmed behavior.
And that's one of the dangers of fundamentalism. ( Take note.....I'm not calling this Christianity, it's fundamentalism )
That level of 'belief'/'faith' requires self censorship of rational thought almost on the level of being a robot programmed to repeat circular logic on a looped track.
While they can be a good neighbor, they can also be an incredibly destructive element within an advanced technological society.
Decision making on their level is both arbitrary on an intellectual level because of their personal translations of the Bible ......and absolute as a result of it being faith generated.
For instance, science and medicine, necessities of an advanced technological society, become evils in their minds and society suffers from the conflicts.
The seeking of knowledge becomes an evil endeavor unless it's restricted to the Bible.
Reality is not the 'friend' of a fundamentalist. And so, it's denied.
He can't help it as long as he has 'faith' but that 'faith' is constantly challenged by reality.
It makes for a very rigid but brittle dogma. One minuscule fracture in that psyche and all faith is lost. So there is desperation in maintaining 'faith' at all costs, and that includes defying/defiling logic.
It is ironic that kind of faith is actually based on denial.
The belief of that which can't be tested is based upon denial of that which is testable.
It obviously does not promote good mental health.
And that's why you see threads like this one.
To prove the unprovable.......he can't help it.
