Gun registration?

However, trying to establish responsible ownership where there are large numbers of guns already in circulation is more complex.

Yeah, I would imagine it would be very DIFFICULT to get something established here in the states ...

I know one guy who would be REALLY pissed by the idea .........

100% for it. Far too many "Law abiding" idiots with guns today. And these law abiding idiots in large part enable the criminals to get guns. It is past time for some common sense regulation to be implemented.

That is some load of shit you just pinched off

Explain how law abiding idiots enable criminals

Somebody with more idle time than me should see what that studies show regarding crimes and hand gun use. With regard legally obtained hand guns used in the commission of a crime.

I have no problem with registering hand guns and mandatory training to buy one. In Michigan they eased the requirements to get a CC but in turn make it mandatory to take a class. I think that is an 8 hour class.. Makes sense to me.

I have no problem with mandatory classes for long guns but would be dead set against registering them. Having a data base of such gun owners is dangerous in the hands of a govt. Disarm society and see what can happen in SOME instances and I don't want to take that chance.

Wow that's something. I've used a chainsaw a few times and have been fine. They seem pretty safe in my opinion if you respect that they're sharp, and don't act like an idiot.

Circular saws are dangerous as hell though. They seriously make me cringe. A few years ago my dad got a pretty nasty cut using one, thankfully it didn't take of his finger. They've done multiple stories on NPR about how dangerous those things are. There's even technology in the works to make them safer but companies don't wanna pay the extra cost.

As mentioned, a gun is a tool that was designed to kill. All the tools you mentioned above were not. There is a difference.

Just remember that the government is comprised of people.

Very true!

... but there has always been a debate on whether government should have more or less power based on the intelligence of the society.

Are people intelligent enough to govern themselves most of the time or should there be more laws and legislation that governs the people more strictly?

That is where I was going....

Essentially, this is where the debate for stricter gun control lies. Is the U.S. society intelligent and capable enough to have lean or strict regulation when it comes to gun control?
