I still don't think of C.P. as an act of revenge; I think it's a just means to a person who possibly could be released on parole to kill again. People can say they're "reformed" and "reborn" in prison, but I believe those people who don't ever repeat a vicious crime are those that were honestly surprised by their own actions and would never do it again or those that have been executed.

If these prison psychiatrists are really as good and unbiased as they claim to be, they could tell the great percentage of those that have evil forever inside themselves and those that really aren't serial murderers, rapists, and torturers.

If they suspect that someone will kill again, IF they are released then they should be put under permanent house arrest with very limited freedoms of travel.

I dont see that working very well. If they "want" out bad enough, they will find a way. I personally, would be scared to live next to someone like that.
Thats just a really rough suggestion. I'm sure someone that is more knowledgeable in this field can suggest somehting better.

True...or better yet, kept in jail. But like alot of "professionals," psychiatrists and lawyers can be paid off to say what they are paid to say.

I doubt that many prisoners have that kind of monetary sway.

see thats whats wrong someone like you would put a killer back on the street to kill again and it's already happened to many times , permanent house arrest , and if you go out and kill someone tonight you'll be grounded.:D

Hey, its not my fault if the Jury sentenced him to a certain amount of years, and if he's up for leaving or parole. I'm just suggesting things to stop them from potentially killing again IF they are released.

and if when given life they were in jail for the rest of their life i mite say fine , but their are to many out there that would say oh poor man/women you've been for 10 years now are you going to be a good boy if we let you out, no i say kill em and be done with it but remember i'm talking about guys like the one they just got for killing 3 kids in NY and not some guy that killed some guy in a fight by mistake.

And you would be a murderer yourself for sentencing him to death so maybe you should be in jail also?

yes, I do agree that some violent people are let out too early, but lets not going bonkers here and start offing people just because of some mistakes.

Just like to offer some of you a different perspective here. I have been in prison and shared a cell with several murderers. None of them I ever felt any threat from. In fact one of them got himself moved to a different block because he was scared of me. Most murders are stupid, tragic mistakes usually carried out under the influence of alcohol or drugs and all the murderers I met were severely depressed because of what they did, not because they had to spend the next 15 odd years in prison for it. I'm not saying there arn't complete pychopathic killers who cant be cured but I'm just putting you in the picture from first hand knowledge of murderers which the majority of you havent and thankfully wont have any intimate dealings with.

Peter i never said every killing should end in the death of the killer but those who are out to kill for the sake of killing or kill while commiting a crime well i feel they gave up the right to live when they took that road , we all make mistakes that happens like when people die in a car recks but when some punk gets pulled over by a cop for running a red light and pulls a gun and kills the cop because he's got something to hide that cops wife looses her husbend his kids loose their father , why shouldn't the killer pay with his life was it just a mistake that he had his finger on the triger.

I'm talking about people found guilty of cold blooded murder, if it wasn't intentional (according to how a court see's it!), the'd be in for manslaughter, not murder. It would probably help you to meet a killer face to face and realise that under it all he's a human being just like you. Most murderers arn't some twisted satanic ogre.

I understand that line of reasoning... but aren't you doing the same thing they did? Your just calling it something else. They killed someone innocent, your killing someone guilty. It's called murder when they do it, it called capital punishment when the justice system does it, but it's still taking a life, plain and simple. So by taking that persons life, it's nothing more than exacting revenge and not justice.

Don't get me wrong, I think they should pay every day of their life. They should be put away and never let out.

You don't believe in an eye for an eye? A hand for a hand? It's the same principle only we're putting someone who's messed up in the head or did something really stupid out of the worlds misery. As long as someone who's done bad things is still alive they'll continue to do them.

Prison escapes, while rare, do happen. Last thing I want is a serial killer wandering around picking off people.

plus all the people that are killed in jail it happens all the time how many chances would you give a murderer before you put him to death .:confused
