Yeah I've seen people saying that River Song is Amy's Baby but I don't think she is. Though people were commenting on the fact their names have a water theme (River/Pond) which might have a reason).
I didn't think Amy was pregnant before hand. It seemed weird that she just blurted it out and seemed shocked about it, like she had no idea before and after seeing the monster she started feeling sick and so did River.
It reminded me a bit of the episode Amy's Choice where she was pregnant in that. I suppose it would be odd to have Amy Pond pregnant-but-not-really-pregnant again
The child astronaut is reeeeally weird... maybe that's Amy's baby haha
I just have no idea what's going on. But I did wonder if the astronaut that shoots the Doctor was River, because she's always going on about how she killed the greatest man who ever lived, and people keep hinting that she's dangerous. Not sure how that would fit in with the astronaut being a small child at the moment though.
At least he's got 200 years to try and prevent his own death, if possible
Yeah I thought maybe it was Amy's baby but then I thought, it was the future doctor who invited them together so he must have known Amy was going to shoot her child and that's not how the Doctor rolls. Unless it's timey wimey stuff that isn't fixed (hence he didn't know what Amy was going to do) so he can be saved.
Killing the doctor wasn't that much of a plot twist in my opinion. The audience knows it must be resolved because:
the series is Doctor Who. He sort of needs to be the rest of the episodes this series.
If Matt Smith is killed without regenerating, then it's the end of the series for good - no one else can take over. Unless he pulls a stunt like the Master...
I thought it might be River who shoots the Doctor. Didn't she say 'of course not' after shooting at the astronaut, like she knows who it is (or what it is? Maybe the silence monster is the astronaut? But if it is her, then she must know she shoots the doctor hence why she is in prison). Maybe River Song is the child astronaut? She said in a previous meeting, that the doctor met her as a young child and knew all about her (Though the doctor doesn't really know everything about her at the moment because of spoilers).
I've seen on another site, people saying that River Song might be the astronaut who shoots because she thinks he shot he as a child (because everything happened so quickly she might become confused and not realised it was Amy who killed her). But I'm not sure I agree.
I just can't wait for next week I really hope they resolve some of these questions.
I was thinking, the entire thing is titled the impossible astronaut, which suggests it's going to be really shocking to find out whoever is in there. And the doctor isn't even slightly shocked by who it is, so it's someone he knows.
Could it even be the doctor himself?
I'm going to go and do some more speculation reading haha
LOL Abcinthia! Rory's cute but I've got a massive soft spot for the Doctor, I can't guarantee I could control myself were he to appear in my timeline when I first heard he'd be wearing a bow tie and a suit I was like 'oh what, that sounds awful' but it's grown on me and now I just want to rip that bow tie off with my teeth :ninja
Okay so, since in the preview for the next episode, River had said "the girl did say that the spaceman was going to eat her, maybe that's what it did" so what if she's right? What if it is someone The Doctor knows, but then they saw it look like the girl later because the astronaut ate her? It could be a perception filter or something. Hell, for all we know, the astronaut could be The Master!
As nice as it would be to contribute to this thread - I've only watched sporadic episodes ever since it began again in 2005.
I'm still on Series 2 after now working my way through them properly and the last episode I watched was "The Girl in the Fireplace". That was a sad episode...
