a supreme being? i hate these answers. just say you're a theist because that's the cheap knock off version explanation of a half yes and half no answer. at this moment in time with our scientific knowledge you're either a theist, not a theist, or african voodoo.
I guess for my mom love comes before everything else. I mean I've also heard that the bible isn't too fond of birth control. I am not a very religious person so I take some things that the bible says loosely, like, perhaps, killing the child of a heathen.

It is just a book, written by ancient people trying to describe the unexplainable. The only truth it has is what people apply to it using logical thought, fantasy, something in between, or in most cases- blind, non-analytical acceptance of the writings as ultimate truth.
It is so compelling for many people because it answers all of their questions- no analytical thinking required!
The absolute historical problem with religion is how humans have corrupted a positive thing- humans trying to figure out their place in the universe and turned it into manipulation, control, power, self enrichment, and murder. Excellent reasons for burning in Hell, if you believe in Hell, which I don't.

i stated in this thread about a 100 posts ago that perception is the ultimate reality. christians who do not question are a popular targer for atheists. well, i know tons of atheists who do not question their bullshit, either. yet intelligent atheists care not to bring that reality up because it is harmful to his/her cause. whether the bible 'physically' happened or not is irrelevant. it is the belief and lifestyle that is relevant. religion will never be proved because if it was there would be no reason to have it or to have faith. now shut the fuck up and understand my post.

Ok do i have to actually read through 25 pages to attempt an intelligent response to the question of "Do you believe in God?"
Alright so i read the first and last pages and sweetpotato on page 15 lol. Sorry folks if i repeat or bring up an already washed to death issue.
To the point....When someone asks about God these days i don't automatically think of the old patriarch in the sky as my Roman Catholic family elders suggested i do. In fact in these times i have removed God from religion. God is more about spirit or energy. With the act of conception the elements air, fire(energy), water and earth (body) come together to manifest a person and at death they are freed. With humans air-mental, fire(energy)-spirit, water-emotional, earth-physical. So i see spirit as energy. For me all energy is connected, all humans, animals, birds, fish, earth, plants, other planets.....all the natural world…the universe. You know that famous quote about the web? “We are but one part of the web of life, what we do to ourselves we do to all of life”. Paraphrasing of course, but to me that is what that is about. From what i hear, everything starts with the spirit, but i think it is also the hardest to understand and manage. We know to feed our bodies…generally, to keep learning, to breathe fresh air….but what about our energy? I do think if you can tap into the collective energy, like a practitioner in energy then you know God.
A true practitioner of energy…..I love this Einstein quote.
A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. I believe in God thanks to my apotheosis.
It is not the miracle working super God of scripture.
That fool does not exist.
I have no more proof of my God than others have for theirs and admit it.
Without my apotheosis, I would be the skeptic non believer that I used to be.

all truth is subjective. when an atheist makes a statement, it is still based on opinion (and not necessarily science just because s/he isn't theist) when theists do the exact same thing.
