It is cyclical but you believe strong enough not to believe in God, based on something. Is it just lack of proof? So be it but nothing is proven or disproven based on no proof. Until the proof appears, the existence of God, an entity who lives in a supposed divine and undetectable space remains undetermined imo. It's your right to say there is no divine space because we can't locate one, but what does that prove? Nada.

BTW name calling is name calling, does not matter if it is moron or ignoramus.
I am not out to prove anything. The one making a claim has the burden of proof.

Ignoramus is not name calling. It is a legitimate adjective meaning a person lacking knowledge. I am an ignoramus about American politics, business law and many other things in this world. I accept the limits of my knowledge but I am far from a moron and that has no legitimate meaning as far as this discussion goes. To quote:

Moron

1. a person who is notably stupid or lacking in good judgment.
2. Psychology. a person of borderline intelligence in a former classification of mental retardation, having an intelligence quotient of 50 to 69.

I am neither stupid nor lacking in good judgement. My IQ has been measured at 140 so I take being called a moron a great insult and I still demand a retraction. I stop short of demanding an apology, as the person in question has apparently shown a lack of good judgement. But to misunderstand the meaning of a word or phrase does not justify a person to resort to insults.

Neither am I, but unlike you, I reserve judgement while you seem convinced there is no God. I see no reason to be convinced of any such thing.

Ignoramus is not name calling. It is a legitimate adjective meaning a person lacking knowledge.

While the definitions are different, both terms can be offensive and are labels used primarily to diss someone. My advice, instead of using "ignoramus", tell them they don't know what they are talking about. It's less offensive. :)

I dont believe in god, nor do I really believe in religion as a concept.

To some people, its just something they believe in and have faith in and thats great. Good for those people, and just ebcause they worship/believe in things I do not that doesnt make either one of us right or wrong.

But some people....some people need organized religion as a crutch. It becomes less of a faith, and more of an obsession. And those are the kind of people who just cannot tolerate you doint believe in the same things as they do. Those are the people I cant stand.

I "diss" nobody and use the term in its classic definition so don't tell me what I meant and don't champion somebody else's cause; my challenge was to him, not you. I was called a moron and want a retraction and it has nothing to do with you. Using ignoramus is telling somebody they don't know what they are talking about; it just uses less words and is more concise.

The person in question then says "i don't argrue anyone who used 'rhetoric' as a tool." Now, that is a perfect example of the ignorance of debate, as rhetoric is a cornerstone of argumentation.

Since this person has insulted me and offers no retraction I will report it. Anybody that resorts to insults to either make or refute a point has no place in such a forum.

I do believe in God.
I do repect the feelings of folks who question his existence.
I do not force my beliefs about religion to atheists.
I do not want the atheists to force their beliefs on me... This is how folks get along.

Peel back the heat guys, debates get intense so we are careful about how we moderate this section because we do not want to stifle the ability to participate in debates. But if you want to lock horns, do it in P/M, parking lot or wherever, just not in the thread. Thanks

I have no desire, nor intention, of "locking horns". I was called a moron and I want a retraction. I was debating in proper form and it was somebody else that resorted to name calling. Is name calling now allowed?

Sorry, but a book as hateful, blood-soaked and filled with double-standards and hypocracy such as the bible HAD to have been written by a human, and not an invisible diety who we assume made us in his own image, yet we do not know what he looks like, but we assume he looks like Wilford Brimley in dreadlocks. Jesus, on the other hand, looks like the lead singer for The Bee Gees, but they're both the same person, though they're also father and son. God killed his only son, but he didn't REALLY DIE. Plus, there's a holy ghost. All three of them are God. See how confusing this is?

And if he does exist, why all the worship? I cannot think of a more hateful, murderous and sociopathic character in fiction history than the God from the Old Testament (oh, just for you who blindly believe, there is also a New Testament, which was written by people in order to make the Old Testament's ridiculous prophecys' fit).

In the end, if God does exist, I'm sure whith the issues OTHER have in this world he'll forgive my understandable doubt. In the meantime, I beleive there's better things in life than praying, kneeling, reciting things, and drooling like a mongoloid while watching FOX FUCKING NEWS.
