By the way I read your story about your husband. That is very touching. I think you have handled that extremely well.

Thank you Fred. I would not normally post about him but I felt it pertained. Without my Faith I couldn't have made it through that. I can't say that it didn't waver for a little bit but in the end it's what I held onto.

Faith is a personal thing. I do not believe any denomination has it all right. I am a member of a Baptist church but my personal faith falls somewhere between the Baptist and the Methodist. I don't believe in abstaining from alcohol. I believe the bible reads as all things in moderation. I believe our calendar reflects what history believes in Jesus. Over the centuries many things mentioned in the bible which have sounded fantastic have been proven by archeologists. I have come to my personal conclusion that the bible is not just a bunch of hokey stories. I have read enough of the bible and commentaries to be comfortable with my belief.

Examples please. The key word in your sentence is "proven". As far as I know there is no proof that Jesus lived in any record other than religious scripts.

'Without God a man cannot have godly qualities!'

I could agree with that, but the debate then becomes who and what is God?? :D

Perhaps...
God is the One who gives and takes away life
...who sustains life, who runs the show,
who was born of none nor
bore anyone, he does not die!

If you have made up your mind, then there is no debate among the believers as long as you all believe in the same thing. :) However, if you/I am questioning and looking for evidence then there is plenty of room to debate.

With your statement above, I would debate that our lives end when our biological clocks say it will or when circumstances end our lives prematurely. I think you would argue that it is God that created the clocks and set them. I am in no position to argue the correctness of that view other than to say there is not enough evidence to draw a conclusion.

If you want to speak in the most general terms, something created the universe, something created a situation where life could begin. I'm ok with calling that something, God. But the question still comes back to who and what is God? I don't have the answer and until I can see something or feel something more, I'm not prepared to make a definitive statement on the subject.

What's more the foundation of most modern religions is based on ANCIENT scripts written by primitive, relatiavely science illiterate men. This was in the day that any Earthly calamity was considered the act of an angry God when today we know that storms happen and locust swarm for specific reasons. These events are not God interventions to punish the human race for not living up to his standard. At least I see no evidence to believe it was God and not nature. This gives me no confidence of the accuracy of their religious views.

Is that kind of like having a God Complex? If so I'll pass on those qualities.

That's if you pick a selfish God. The good ones are supposed to be immensely wise. What quality would you pass on exactly?

Why wouldn't anyone like to be like Jesus??

He helped the poor and preached to give of yourself. Pretty good qualities imo.

Because with a name like that I couldn't get into the USA without a serious anal cavity search or illegally by being shot at

Hispanics seem to be heavy with Jesus names and I don't imagine they'd have any more problem getting through customs then anyone else.

*pounds head off the wall*

You pounding your head why?

Orthodox Christians believe that he was the Son of God, but more like the incarnate being of God....a.k.a - God's spirit got born into a body, so essentially Jesus could be God in a way.
