As German bombs fell on London and Nazi tanks rolled over US troops, Sosthenes Behn president and founder of the US based ITT corporation, met with his German representative to discuss improving German communication systems. ITT was designing and building Nazi phone and radio systems as well as supplying crucial parts for German bombs. Our government knew all about this, for under a presidential order, US companies were licensed to trade with the Nazis. The choice of who would be licensed was odd, though. While the Secretary of State gave the Ford Motor Company permission to make Nazi tanks, he simultaneously blocked aid to German-Jewish refugees because the US wasn't supposed to be trading with the enemy. Other US companies trading with the Third Reich were General Motors, DuPont, Standard Oil of New Jersey, Davis Oil Co., and the Chase National Bank. President Roosevelt did not stop them, fearing a scandal might lead to another stock market crash or lower US moral. Besides, the same companies that traded with Hitler were supplying the US with its armaments, and some corporate leaders threatened to withdraw their support if Roosevelt exposed them. Henry Ford was a good friend of Hitler's. His book -- The International Jew -- had Inspired Hltler's Mein Kampf. The Fuhrer kept Ford's picture in his office, and Ford was one of only four foreigners to receive Germany's highest civilian award. As for Sosthenes Behn, at the end of the war, he received the highest civilian award for service to his country -- the United States of America.

Not Britain directly, but certainly corporate America.

1940 - 1941 then.

Of course they're free to trade with who they please. But should they be dealing with the likes of the Nazis, essentially supporting them? The answer is no.

I don't remember the page, can't be bothered to look through my history for it. It looked like a hobby page...

But yes, London was still bombed after the Battle of Britain, when the US were officially in the war and fighting the Nazis.

Im just saying buring the koran is a peaceful protest, flying planes into buildings is not peaceful, some coutries take huge pride in their flags as a representation of their homes and way of life, and are deeply offended when its burnt. doesnt bother me, I think like you , and feel its a waste of fabric! I also feel the same away about the koran and bible though..

9/11 wasn't a Muslim protest.

A peaceful protest wouldn't be burning someones religious text. The Qur'an isn't meaningless. No religious text is. If it was Muslims burning the Bible, people wouldn't call it peaceful.

I agree but I also think that a Muslim will not burn the Bible...as they think the Genuine Bible (unedited) came from God!!

Burning the Quran will only spread universal hatred against the Americans and consequently against ALL Christians the world over! Americans in particular would get isolated from the world and plunge other Caucasians too in deep trouble!!
Some better way of protest could be expected of people who think they are civilized and better than the terrorists whoever they may be...

And Christians dropping a nuclear bomb or two on Japan in 1945 was a statement from the extremists too?

You cannot associate the actions of a few extremists on 9/11 with the entire muslim faith. And in no country in the Middle East is anyone free to behead anyone. Flag burning is fine, it's just a bit of cloth after all.

By burning the Qu'ran you're insulting every muslim, extreme or not.

that idiot pastor through his imprudent action deliberately wants to turn every Muslim into a Jihadi and that would be hell!
Can't someone tell him to leave the world in Peace?

How about everybody just ignore it and let him protest whatever he wants. Just like I ignore the muslims who burn American flags and chant " death to America", if they want to protest, let them.

Oh wait, that would make too much sense.

You have the right to smack a hornets nest with a stick all day long, but don't do it while you are standing in a crowd and your idiotic behavior will endanger the rest of us.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I'll just blurt out: Could this be considered a religious hate crime, or does free speech trump this issue? I like being able to burn the flag, I do it every 7/4, kidding. But seriously I would not want to see a law that makes it a crime.

What would Christians do it a Muslim in this country decided to have a Bible burning day. :humm:

Nice idea! Burn the whole world, plunge it into more chaos!
If the Bible and Jesus is not respected as he should it doesn't mean that Muhammad or Krishna shouldn't be by their adherents!

You must admit there are appears to be a % of Muslims ready to kill you if you bad mouth the Quran. Ask Salman Rushdie. I would argue this is man's standard, not God's and Muslims seemed to have cornered the market. What is your take on that?

BTW, I thought I heard the burning event was canceled?

True,,, Muslims are averse to anyone bad-mouthing the Quran or their Prophet....because according to their belief the word of Quran or the Prophet is the Word of God.. hence their possessiveness to Quran is natural.
They would also not bad mouth Jesus, Moses or Noah etc ....that is against the teachings of their Faith.

I don't think it is fair to disrespect anyone's beliefs or to burn their religious scriptures...that sounds like provoking hatred universally because Muslims are found in all nationalities..

Can't say Rushdie did a good job by slinging filth at Muslims?
