My hypothetical involved us completely leaving "their backyard". Do you think there hatred for us would disappear?
If we hypothetically removed all of our comitment to the middle east, I actually think a lot of the hatred would die down. Not a lot, since the entirety of the middle east will never forget out long interventionalist history there, but maybe a little. trust me, they don't hate us "for our freedoms" :)24:), they dislike us because of our business affairs and involvement in their countries.

of course, but ANY form of torture should be avoided. This includes all of the ones stated.

A lil torture not bad against extremists who wouldn't think twice about flying planes into buildings killing untold innocent lives, blowing up things helter skelter any chance they get and slicing off necks in a backward and forward motion while the hostage is gasping for dear life, gurgling sounds being heard and the cutting of bones, until the neck is completely off from the body and then to lift in glee to display on TV. No siree. They get off easy.

Of course innocents getting beheaded is a terrible thing, but that doesn't mean that water boarding and the other aforementioned forms of torture are all of a sudden "ok" by contrast.

I have always thought that things such as these are never deemed bad until light it brought to it.

Every day, the NSA or CIA are probably in a far away land, taping someones eyelids open and forcing them to listen to Tom Jones Greatest Hits, and no one is the wiser. The biggest issue in our day and age is MEDIA. You simply cannot convince me that GITMO wrote the book on torture. And you will never convince me that these are the only cases of the US handing someone a beating.

Just seeing it on LeftWing Network, has a tendency to make us all a little sensitive.

And that is why they use those techniques to get them to talk. Now they could be like the terrorists and use a knife to mutilate and murder people but they don't, instead like you said, they keep them up all night and naked in a dark cell.
Somehow I suspect putting them in a penthouse on 5th avenue with cable TV and caviar will not get them to talk.

Again...:homo:

Yeah, kind of like a terrorist supporting nation that invades countries for economic and military gains.

But you're letting your emotions get in the way of reason. We should not sink to their level by any means, to do so is completely contradictory and is turning our society into what we are trying to fight.

Yes it does.

Fuck the Jennifer Convention. I'm on the side of the Anti-"Human bombs", anti-"plane jackers flying into towers" and Anti-"throat slicers".

If a lil torture would help get information from them that they otherwise would not give, and it will help saving and protecting millions of lives around the world then I'm all for it.

They didn't care two shits about the Jennifer Convention when they signed up to blow up innocent lives and murder people. If you happened to be in their way they'd kill you too in a heartbeat.

So you are all for the enemy using the same tactics on US soldiers? Who I might, don't have a say in whether the US interrogaters use torture techniques or not.

That's not very supportive of the troops.

It would be safe to say they...the human bombs, plane jacking, throat hacking terrorists and provider/supporters use far worse torture techniques and have been using such for many years and will continue to so do regardless.

I'm on the side and in support of the anti-terrorists.

I just fail to see that the fact other countries do it worse is a good reason for torture. Since when do we base our human rights on it not being as bad as what extremists do?

Me personally... If I were captured by some militant extremists, and the worst thing that happened to me was they took some dirty pictures, and scared me really bad... Dude, I'm thanking God every day I had it so good.

Thought they were going to pull a Nick Burg on me. :smiley24:
