of course, but ANY form of torture should be avoided. This includes all of the ones stated.

Yer right. Deffinately. I guess I was just comparing it to some other shit I had heard and it really is pretty light when compared to what was going on in vietnam and stuff.

I suspect anything short of a 5 star resort in Tahiti would be considered mistreatment by you.
no don't be ridiculous.

I take it you would want to be forced to stay awake for days on end, naked in a dark cell? Go for it. I suspect you'll snap after a day or so.

And that is why they use those techniques to get them to talk. Now they could be like the terrorists and use a knife to mutilate and murder people but they don't, instead like you said, they keep them up all night and naked in a dark cell.
Somehow I suspect putting them in a penthouse on 5th avenue with cable TV and caviar will not get them to talk.

In my case those who interrogate prisoners.
thankyou gina..im a menmber of amnesty international and so this is something im passionate about..afterall i give my hard earned cash to them to protect everyone from torture and human rights mistreatment.

if this article refers to guantanamo ,then ..the men there are not accused of any crime, they are tortured daily, they are humiliated by being stripped naked since they are muslim.have their heads put under water to the point of drowning, put in stress positions which cause unbearable pain, one british resident prisoner recently released lost an eye there..etc etc

If that is what really happens there then it's wrong. There are all kinds of stories coming out of Guantanamo. I've read stories that say the opposite.

It does matter if you personally think it's mistreatment or not. The US has signed an agreement saying they wouldn't do this. And now they are doing it. Not to mention it also goes against everything the US stands for.

Lead by example.

Some people seem more upset over sleep deprivation and water boarding than they are about terrorists who slice people's heads off on camera and then send the footage to Al Jezeera.

Thank you. Somebody with a slice of common sense. :clap

So should we not care if our government mistreats prisoners of war?

If you ever get to the point of semi-world dominance, I'm going to intentionally attack you to be imprisoned.

Early retirement baby!!

yeah that doesn't justify torture.

:24::24:

I don't see it as mistreatment
try it sometime. Maybe some simulated drowning too for a couple hours?

common sense? It just gives them a justification to slice heads off. Again, if you're going to sink to their level of torture and mistreatment, don't complain when your buddies lose their heads. You're only fueling their hatred.

Their hatred would be there regardless. Let's just say we pull everything out of the Middle East. Troops, money, oil companies etc... You think Al Qaeda would disband and say "fuck it, let's all go home"?

No, they'll hate us for taking their economy away. These people are fanatics. It doesn't matter what we do, we're gonna be on their shit list.

of course not, we're in their backyard. Thats where most of our problems come from: Being in other people's business.

Of course innocents getting beheaded is a terrible thing, but that doesn't mean that water boarding and the other aforementioned forms of torture are all of a sudden "ok" by contrast.

My hypothetical involved us completely leaving "their backyard". Do you think there hatred for us would disappear?
