Not required, but strongly recommended. The Malloreon series picks up right where the Belgaraid ended. However there are always "this happened in the previous books/to this point" at the beginning of every book, disguised as chapters/sections of history books from the universe the books' events play out.
I'd recommend reading the Belgarais first, they are very enjoyable :)

Thanks

Can't say, haven't read the Sword of Truth series :dunno
If you really can't decide, there's always "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" :p

on another note, I started reading
Demon Lord of Karanda by David Eddings, book #3 of The Malloreon series

Not until I finish the Malloreon, Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress. After that I might consider reading the Sword of Truth :p

Have just started reading 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'.

Haven't seen the movie yet...will get through the trilogy first, then compare.

Loved the books. First movie (American version) was not a huge fan of. I've heard the swedish versions are better. Even with subtitles

:homo:

It's a bit slow at the beginning of the book, but then you get sucked in and want to know more and more. I was making :eek faces at it numerously. LoL Kinda wish the family of Larson would let the wife/gf compile his notes and let us read what Lisbet's whole (well mostly whole) story is. Larson was planing for about 7 books, I think? There are rumors of 2 manuscripts out there, and... there is a 4th, unpublished book, that is actually the 5th? :willy_nilly:

And yeah, the Swedish movies are very well done. Saw all 3 :)

Porter Jack, As I have read both Goodkind, and Eddings my reccomendation is read Eddings FIRST. Both series are fantastic, and good reading, but The Sword Of Truth series is alot longer and more intensive reading. Eddings is amazing, but definitly start with the Belgariad, it will make the Mallorean a bit more enjoyable as you get to catch up with familiar characters.

Essex Boys by Bernard O'Mahoney. Its a true crime book about the drug gangs in Essex in the 90s that culminated in the Rettendon Range Rover murders in 1995. Particularly interesting to me as its round where I live and involved places I was going to at the time and one or two people I knew.
