I'm reading "What Comes Next" by John Katzenbach. Scary. It's about a teenager who is kidnapped (while running away) by a couple who are deviants. They psychologically torture this girl while people look on via their computers. A professor witnessed her kidnapping, but he is suffering from a rare disease wherein he is dying and hearing voices, but he is still very bright and is trying to figure out how to find this girl w/o letting others know of his disease. It's very good so far!

No, the Belgaraid is my first go at Eddings. I am loving it and will probably read some more books from him after I finish the series. :)

He is amazing, I have read everything he has written, I can't say that I enjoyed his Dreamers series, but he is still an amazin author!

Going to be starting The Belgariad today by David Eddings... thanks to all of the talk about them. I tried reading them when I was back in high school and couldn't get into them. Perhaps I'll have more luck this time. :)

seems i have a long wait to get wizards first rule from the library

is there anything else by Terry Goodkind that i could read whilst waiting ? Anything that does not require the sword of truth have been read in order to make sense

I've been going through all the free books available on my E-Book reader. Currently reading Pride & Prejudice, can't say I'm enjoying it because I can barely keep up. It's like Downton Abbey on crack.

do you think that The Belgariad series is required reading to be able to follow this series

Not required, but strongly recommended. The Malloreon series picks up right where the Belgaraid ended. However there are always "this happened in the previous books/to this point" at the beginning of every book, disguised as chapters/sections of history books from the universe the books' events play out.
I'd recommend reading the Belgarais first, they are very enjoyable :)
