To end all of the "catch up with homework" junk, I think if you get pregnant in your junior or senior years, you should forget about friggin high school CLASSES altogether. You're now an adult and need to think/plan your future like one. Get the GED, HSED, whatever, get your ass in school/college, etc. Get yourself prepared for a decent job, so that you're not running through your 20's with shit jobs and no money. Have a plan, get a life mentor. Screw the stress of trying to go to high school when you're trying to raise a baby and trying grow up at the same time.

I hate to lower myself to your level, but show me your facts and I'll show you mine.
Um, how is it lowering to any level by asking people for evidence behind their claims. Cough them up.

Sometimes its easier for a teen to go through highschool then to try to get their GED. I say if they want to get their highschool diploma graduate with their class. Let them. Doing that is planning for their future. A lot of people who drop out saying theyre going to get their GED's usually take quiet a few years to get them. Graduating through highschool may be the best bet in that case

Perhaps, depending on how involved with school you actually are though, too.

Teenagers make mistakes and unexpected pregnancies happen. If they deiced to have the child then they should get maternity leave like anybody else. It wouldn't be rewarding their behavior or giving them an easy out. I seriously doubt there is anything easy at all about being a teenager and pregnant.

State ins. Or other ins. would work if youre talking about doctor bils

And no where did you say if she could catch up to her work then she should be able to graduate with her class. You stated before she should come back next year...or the summer. You said they should be punished.

I don't believe I said the word punished, did I?

And state ins. is just welfare, therefore, those of us who didn't get her pregnant, are now paying for it.

Well you didnt get me or my mother pregnant and still paid for it. How is that any different then by your reasoning. It doesnt matter if it is a teen or an adult. If it wasnt meant for teens it wouldnt be used by them.

and yes you did say punished

NO way! I think they're free to come back to school when they're ready, but not the same school year. Or, do what my sister had to do, get your GED. Do I think of this as a punishment, you damn right!

If their was a time limit of state coverage of any kind, I bet that would kick people in the ass to do something.

Quick, let's make a vague reference to a time when the average lifespan was about 35 years!

Seriously, why on Earth would you bring up "Since the dawn of man"? I'm not saying that they don't need time off to recouperate and have time with their child. But there's no reason why they can't come back the next year and try it again. Or like I said earlier, over the summer or something.

And have you had a chance to talk to a teenager recently? Yes, they are stupid, but that's only because they haven't matured enough to make sense of their thoughts and emotions. That immaturity does not translate well to raising a child. And honestly, you're right about not punishing the kids, but you sure as hell better get the the new grandparents involved in footing the bill. Both sets of grandparents! If they need some sort of financial help then they apply for it. Not the kids...if either one of my kids screw up like this, I'm stuck like chuck, that's for damn sure. But I can also guarantee you that counterparts on the other end of this issue will be doing their fair-share of refinancing as well.
How out of touch with reality can you possibly be to label all teens as "stupid"? Seems like you're proving otherwise.

There is a time limit of sorts. You have it for so many months before you have to be redetermined. And after so long on certain welfare programs or such. You need to be doing something to get a job. Most states expect you to do something about your situation. Or offer programs to help you do so.

REALLY?! With all this help, it's a wonder to me why some people can't get some sort of act together?!

There are some people out there who avoid it. And take advantage of the system. But if they get caught....its big trouble.
