Here's an idea. Those buzillionaires got to be buzillionaires by keeping more money than they spent on their businesses' infrastructures and employees, right? Why don't they double or even triple the salaries of their lowest-paid employees? By doing that they can help society by reducing the number of low-wage-earners, and they are increasing the tax revenue via payroll taxes and income taxes. While they're at it they can hire double the number of unskilled positions they currently have, which further increases tax revenue.

For the knee-jerks on both the left and right who think I'm being sarcastic or facetious, I assure you that I'm not. This is a real, viable, non-legislative alternative that will inject real stimulus into the economy and boost the outlook of thousands upon thousands of people. I'm sure Gates and Buffet would agree that the goal should be to get the economy moving again. That's done at the retail end by people with disposable income, not in the bureaucratic office.

It doesn't have to come from there. It would be better to come from the federal waste created by extraneous and unnecessary agencies such as the dept of education and by reeling in our empirical military and reducing it to a federal defense posture.

No, you haven't, because in order to prove that the bulk of the funds to pay for this infrastructure has to come primarily from the people who got rich as a result of our infrastructure, you would have to show that all other sources would be inadequate.

Why is it you guys ignore the FACT that our national infrastructure is in disrepair and it must be fixed? Why is it you guys don't seem to understand that the bulk of the funds to pay for this infrastructure has to come primarily from the people who got rich as a result of our infrastructure? Why is it you guys defend the 15% club as you work your own asses off and pay a higher income tax rate? Instead of looking for solutions, you "anti-government-at-all-costs" folks seem to want to maintain the status quo. How much sense does that make?

Never said that. Had you been following the conversation you would see that I've pointed out numerous times how much money Washington has wasted by first lowering taxes on the wealthiest and then BORROWING money and paying INTEREST to fund 2 wars and 2 Wall Street bailouts.

What I am pointing out is that guys like you and me are the ones getting fucked by Supply Side Economics and modern conservatism. The big boys in the 15% club are reaping the profits from the military industrial complex and the banking industry that funds them while you and me pay a higher tax rate than they do.

Are you OK with that brand of conservatism?

I'm not okay with gov't subsidizing corporations - any corporations.
I'm not okay with charging different tax rates on different income. (I'm not okay with federal income tax at all, but let's not go there)
I'm not okay with demonizing people for becoming rich without breaking the law.
I'm not okay with legislators passing laws to unfairly benefit campaign contributors over their competition.
I'm not okay with Washington operating outside their strict constitutional limits.
I'm not okay with collecting federal income tax only to redistribute it to states, especially since the purpose is to dictate and control State gov't operations from Washington.

If all of these things were fixed, Washington would have excess revenue, be able to pay off debts quickly, and we would all enjoy more freedom.
