I don't worship, I do however spend time with God, I read my bible, I speak to him every night before I sleep, and yes I guess some people would see that as a form of Worshipping, I see it as spending time with him.

a persons relationship with God, depends on themselves, what works for them is what's right for them, they don't have to be religious, or Hands in the air worshipping to believe in God, Sometimes it is just seeing the beauty of life, and knowing in your heart and/or mind that it was the creation of God.

I already said atheism can't be a religion in another forum. how can be the total lack of religion one?

I'm willing to concede the point... but (being an arguementative person) what's the point of believing in a God if in some way you don't worship him?

Allan

You are saying that if you believe in God, then you should worship him?
Do you believe in Satan? If so, shouldn't you worship him under the same logic?
What about Santa and the tooth fairy for kids? Just because you believe in something doesn't mean that worship is needed.

Quick definitions (worship)
noun: a feeling of profound love and admiration

Sounds like worshipping to me.

Tim - I do not believe in the devil, nor the Easter Bunny, or Father Christmas (however the Tooth Fairy is still up for debate).

I just wondered what the point was in having these beliefs in something that is so obviously faith based - with no hard proof of existence. To believe in a God is to have faith in his teachings, his purpose for us... etc. Surely this faith is an act of worship - it really must be by definition.

I believe in intelligent design, which says that there is a higher power that created the universe and what not, but I don't believe in heaven or the bible, it was made up (I think after you die nothing happens). But anyone that can argue that a higher power didn't make the universe, go ahead I'm very interested because no one can.

Do you believe in evolution?

I believe in evolution. Because I don't believe in creationism. I'm an athiest by nature, and you just contradicted yourself mang.

Creationists (aka people who believe in a higher power that created the heavens and earth, and all life) don't believe in evolution.

But hell, that's my take on it... coming from having to listen to my mom and grandmother yapping on and on.

LOL WHAT?! Creationists (I'm assuming a creationist is one who believes in intelligent design) can believe in evolution and intelligent design. No offense, but are you stupid? It's those who believe in god who don't believe in evolution. Intelligent design and the belief in god are completely different. Evolution is against what the BIBLE says. I already said that I don't believe in heaven or the bible, how did you draw your conclusion, did you miss something?

I have just ended this debate and thread:

a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny; "he lost his faith but not his morality"
an institution to express belief in a divine power; "he was raised in the Baptist religion"; "a member of his own faith contradicted him"
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

Religion—sometimes used interchangeably with faith or belief system—is commonly defined as belief concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine, and the moral codes, practices and institutions associated with such belief. In its broadest sense some have defined it as the sum total of answers given to explain humankind's relationship with the universe. In the course of the development of religion, it has taken a huge number of forms in various cultures and individuals. ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion

A framework of beliefs relating to supernatural or superhuman beings or forces that transcend the everyday material world.
www.modernhumanorigins.com/r.html

Now if you take a look at those definitions, they disprove what the original poster was saying. Atheism cannot be a religion because it isn't a, from one definition, 'a framework of beliefs relating to supernatural or superhuman beings or forces that transcend the everyday material world'. So how does atheism transcend the everyday material world? Or how is it a framework of beliefs relating to supernatural or superhuman beings or forces?

The original poster apparently made up his own definition to better suit what he is saying. He is wrong. Atheism is NOT a religion, but is the ABSENCE of religion. Sorry original poster, you're mistaken.

I believe in God and in the creation, but I also believe in evolution as well. Not on the level of Darwinism though. I believe that all lifeforms are constantly evolving. That much is evident. Still, that doesn't rule out creationism as a possibility. Think of it this way. Humans invented computers right? So, the invention of computers is much like the creationism aspect of life. Computers are constantly being upgraded as new technology becomes available. The upgrading of computers is like the evolutionist aspect of life. Certainly if God is powerful enough to create mankind and all other forms of life on this planet then He is also powerful enough to make upgrades as the millenia go by.

Fucking EXCUSE ME? You have the gull to ask me if I'm stupid? Yet you believe in God, but not the bible or heaven. Kind of a contradictory, don't you think?

People who believe in intelligent design are the same people who believe in God. Because God created that intelligent design - therefore making evolution non-existant in their eyes.

But for you to sit here and call me stupid because you don't understand my point from my personal experiences, now that makes you look pretty stupid yourself.

Oh and your football team sucks.
