i myself am an aethiest and i dont argue with this fact, actually i must agree since it is using logic and aethiest who analyze religions will come to the same point of veiw

a religion is a set of beliefs and values that is held by an individual

Aethiesm in itself is a basic belief that there is a lack of a higher being as i have come to understand it, of course beiung far more intricate then jsut that

but the belief of a lack of a higher being in itslef a belief so technically aethiem is a religion

many aethiest do not accept this because many are only aetheist out of stupidity or a rebelliance against religion, many ahve better reasons for being aetheist so they should be more accepting to this fact. I myself am an aetheist due to several things that do not make sense in my head due to my persoanl sense of logic so this argument seems very valid to me

Intelligent Design

What about intelligent design?

i could debate the existance of relgion or not both ways and with extremely accurate mathematical representations proving religion as depicted in the old testament as true; but i could equally as strong argue against the existance of proof agreeing with the prementioned facts and assertions. therefore i claim to be agnostic for the time being, or until we can combine relativity and time into the formulas of quantum mechanics. this combination would be my decider in the debate- but the scientific breakthrough is not yet available to do so.

for atheism, why not be agnostic? why be vocal and resiliant in "preaching" your denial beliefs? i must question absolute atheism, because many people who have no faith just settle into atheism without seeing the debate strongly from both sides...

I'm drinking so I'm not getting into detail about this, but I'm pretty much with the agnostic views borderlining athiestic views.

But the past couple days I've been talking to my roommates brother, who happens to be one of my good lifetime friends and is going to a Christian college.

He's pwning me on some of my views.

well i think i heard or read somewhere that the government reconizes atheism as a religon.

but i have no idea what i believe. i mean i believe in god but i think thats the only thing i believe in. i dont have a certain religion where i believe everything from a certain one. i mean like lutheran's, catholics, jehova's witnesses ect.

i just find most of their beliefs total BS that some say we have to do it this way or we have to do it that way.

i rather just believe what i want to believe instead of people telling me what i should believe in.

They recognize it because of the bill of rights.

i have not always been an aethiest and i do not preach my beliefs, in fact i came to be an aethist through many debates or discussions i have had with freinds or other people, to me many thins do not make sense (some of it does haveto do with organized religion which is a slight stray from just saying god or no god) but if you believe i am preaching then i will stop talking if you wish, but basically the concept of a higher being does not make sense to me

Simply put, I just don't care. I'm living my life my way, regardless of whether or not there is a god. I'm not going to waste my life trying to conform to what some higher being, who may or may not exist, wants. God gave us free will, therefore if he exists he must want people like me around.

I also am an Atheist but I believe that you have your definition confused. I am not religious nor do I consider Atheism a religion, it is a set of beliefs. If any set of beliefs is a religion then that means that if you believed in love at first sight (as an example) then it would be a religion.

Cambridge Dictionary definition

Definition
religion Show phonetics
noun
1 [C or U] the belief in and worship of a god or gods, or any such system of belief and worship: the Christian religion

2 [C] INFORMAL an activity which someone is extremely enthusiastic about and does regularly: Football is a religion for these people.

Note that it says belief & worship, not just a belief.

Don't let yourself get caught up in the religious doctrine that you must have something to believe in & that whatever that is, it is your religion. This tries to suck you into admitting that you are religious.

my post was a generalization- i dont care if you do or dont preach your views. but let me preach mine real quick:

i am agnostic because i have found an equal amount of defensive proof that religion (the old testament of the bible) did and does exist. now the corruption in religion is out of play here, i am just basing my belief on facts backed by science. the future is in science and the past is in faith. with knowledge, blind faith and trust is not needed, but religion is always a fall back crutch... until i observe more proof to sway my opinion, i rest as agnostic.

how can you not see God in todays world? this place was born out of nothing, and the scientists believe that a slightest miscalculation of what happened to create the universe would have made it a thin mist. so you would rather believe than the world was made as a one in a billion card...

science and religion tell the same story in different languages.

who cares about the chance that it could have gone wrong? it doesnt matter, because the way of life as we know it is how it is, and there is nothing you can do to change the past

for now :dunno
