I'm sorry for causing a ruckus, I didn't mean to, I was really just trying to figure out why I was hearing so much about autism and so little about cancer. I know why now, and I apologize for hurting anyone who is personally effected by autism.

Perhaps asking a question rather than making assumptions and accusations would have had a different outcome... just an fyi for the future.

That's not the way I was seeing it with my perspective, all I could see was

AUTISM AUTISM AUTISM & cancer

But that was just the way I was seeing it, doesn't make it true.

ok so you are seeing more autism posts here? maybe because quite a few members have close family members affected by it. also cancer is more know, with money be donated ALL the time for research and funding. autism has only been "talked" openly about for the past 4-5 years. i really find this thread disrespectful, not only to people affected by autism, BUT AS A CANCER PATIENT!!!!! if you put as much research into this issue as you do your global warming, then maybe you would not have pissed quite a few people off.

IMO you were not trying to get questions answered, but trying to start another debate, which frankly sweetie you will not win.

sorry if i offended you!

I didn't want to start a debate, and I wasn't trying to prove a point. And I am hearing more about autism in the news and in the real world, not on this website.

ok so its not that autism is more important than cancer or visa versa. but for you to actually post that cancer patients dying in the hospital should get more money than families dealing with autism really shows your immaturity. since you love to research, do it. most of your comments have pissed some people off, and with good reason

I think money given to Autism Research has nothing to do w/ money given to Cancer Research. If someone is personally effected by one and not the other then obviously they're going to give to that cause. And, on the flip side, if someone isn't personally effected by let's say Autism that doesn't mean that money would go to Cancer Research. Your not pulling money out of Cancer Research's pocket to put it in Autism Research's pocket.

Children w/ cancer have the blessing of the Ronald McDonald House and St. Johns (I hope I got that name right) hospital. What are the groups that do the same for Autistm patients??? Oh yeah...nobody knows. I am BY NO MEANS minimizing what cancer patients go through (my grandfather passed away due to Cancer...I donate to BOTH causes) but the fact is that there is a lot known about cancer while we still have uneducated people out there spouting off that Autism is a fake illness and is just the result of lazy parenthood (Dennis Leary, anyone???).

Honestly, if you are going to make statements, don't back out of it and claim it was a question once things get heated. This isn't the first time I have seen you do this. If you say it, own it! It's too easy for you to say things you KNOW are going to hurt/upset members, and then claim it was just a question once people start disagreeing with you. Are you trying to find a way to piss everyone on this site off?

I find your attitude on this matter to be highly disrespectful!! This is exactly the sort of behaviour and immaturity that makes me NOT want to see you become a VIP.

Oh, I'm so sorry for apologizing for upsetting members when I didn't mean to.

This is the problem I am having right now. I did what I should have done in this thread a while ago. I owned up. I admitted I said things I shouldn't have said. I apologized.

Yet, for some reason none of you think it's okay to let a person make mistakes every once in a while.

You go on and on with the insults, no matter how much I apologize, then you insult me for apologizing. You tell me I'm immature, that I have a bad opinion (when I don't even have an opinion yet) then when I start to get aggitated because this continues, you tell me I'm hot-heated, that I am trying to start debates.

Then when I tell you I'm just annoyed because no one is listening to me or taking me seriosly, you say to just ignore those people, but those people turn out to be people I generally like here comments from, or people whom I don't normally have problems with.

Then it all comes down to this: I'm not a troll. I don't have a borderline personality disorder. I'm not trying to start fights or debates. I'm trying to form opinions. And if my opinions start forming in away that disagrees with you, you need to understand that it's not my opinion yet, and I'm still figuring it out.

I didn't realize anyone would react the way they did to my comments in this thread. I didn't realize that because I didn't fully understand Autism. I didn't understand Autism because I hadn't done very much research on it. And I started this thread to try and understand something I couldn't find in any of my research.

Now can we please, please drop it?

Maybe its different outside of Tennessee but here you hear about St. Judes Hospital way more than anything regarding any other fundraisers/treatment projects.

I agree in a way that Autism Awareness is kinda like the new kid on the block and thats why you hear more about it now than before. I dont remember seeing fundraisers for Autism research before maybe4 or 5 years ago. I'm not saying it wasnt around before then, just that its getting more airtime as it seems to be becoming more common.

Autism Awareness, Make A Wish Foundation, Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Smile Train, the list goes on and on and theres no way any of us could put one ahead of the other when you're talking about a kid that needs help.

Kudos for working with the autistic children at the farm :thumbup

The money being raised for Autism is not taking anything away from the money being raised for cancer research so there really is no point in comparing the two. If you are affected by Autism, you raise money for that cause. If you are affected by cancer, you raise for that. Pretty simple...

I am gonna agree with this 100 %!

I cant really say much more without sounding rude.. so thats all.
