So I had to call the cops Sunday morning...

At 4am. The baby woke up, so I went to get him. I saw somebody parked out front with the car running and he started honking the horn over and over for about 5 minutes. As I was walking downstairs, I see this guy (who I've never seen before) come in the gate, walk up to our door and start kicking it and ringing the bell.

So I set the baby on the couch and was about to go commence an ass-whoopin, when I realized he never took his right hand out of his pocket, and there was something bulky in there (please, no penis jokes :D ). So I said fuck this, I'm callin 911.

Right after I called, the guy got in his car and left. I still don't know who the fuck he was or what he wanted. But, on the plus side, I now have the perfect reason to buy a gun with my tax return when it gets here. :D

So seeing it looked like the guy may have had a gun, what would you have done if you had a gun? Had a shoot out with him and risked getting killed? I think what you did, staying in and calling the cops was the best decision, regardless.

Well yeah, just because I have a gun doesn't mean I'm going to run out the door firing, and I know Donnie is the same way.

But if he decided to come through my door, he's going to come through that door and straight into 1 warning. If he doesn't cease, he's going to get a hailstorm of bullets.

Good on you for actually taking the time to realize that he had never taken his hand out of his pocket and thinking before going out there. While protecting your family is VERY important, opening the door when you're unsure if the guy is armed is not only unwise but it also gives him an opportunity to make entry to your residence. You did the best thing...good job!!!

Next time you'll be able to level the playing field, though, huh??? ;)

I don't know that he had a gun. Based on my not having one, I decided I would not bring my fists to a potential gun fight. If I had a gun, there are several more options available. I could open the door with the gun pointing in his face and kindly inform him he's at the wrong house. Or I could have gone out the back and came up behind him and told him to not move. Either way, if he tries anything shady it's not a gun fight. It's a one shot, one kill scenario.

Training is what stops a shootout. And Donnie is obviously trained with a firearm. And this is something James should do before his "Hailstorm of bullets".

Yeah I agree. This thing is in this situation, I'm taking it that Donnie dosen't know this guy from Adam. So who's to know whether he is even better trained with a gun? I personally don't think it would be worth the risk, especially as the guy wasn't a direct threat to him.

Training doesn't just involve shooting straight. Training also consists of know when, and when not to pull out your firearm. It also teaches you how to approch a situation where you'll be in a much greater position regardless of the other guys training.

Precisely. By going out the back door and getting behind him, I can damn near empty a mag before he turns around. And thanks to Florida's "Castle law" I'd be perfectly in my rights to do so.

Regardless of that law. I wouldn't kill anybody that wasn't threatening my life, or the life of anyone in my family. I have a gun in order to stop someone from taking my life or the life of anyone in my family. In that situation, with a gun, it's still best to call the police and just sit tight with the gun inside the house ready, until the police come.
