A Picture is worth 1000 words...

Um, bombing innocent people isn't necessary to win a war. You even say that war is "unnatural" and death is "is wrong", and killing innocents is ever "worse". Now how would your god think of you supporting all of those unnatural, and terrible things that were not ordained by him?

He'd think it worse had we not taken every measure possible to stop the death of innocent civilians for no reason.
Killing innocent civilians in war PALES in comparison to killing innocent civilians because of a racial bias. It's still bad, but it's not as bad. I say that 20,000 innocent civilians killed to at least try stop a genocidal dictator is better then 20 civilians killed by that genocidal dictator because he thought their noses were too big.

There was no reason for the fire bombings at Dresden. Everyone knew it was a non-military target.

Killing innocent people is killing innocent people. The motivation hardly matters. I think its horrifying that you think that in certain situations killing innocents is "not as bad" as in others. You have a lot to lean.

Can I ask how innocent people provoke B-17's dropping bombs on them?

We were involved in a war. Those people knew they were in a war zone, and they were even warned to leave.

We take as many precautions as possible to ensure as few civilian casualities as possible.

Unfortunately that's war, and you're naive if you think wars are unavoidable, as are civilian casualities.

You're missing the point that Dresden wasn't a military target at all. We bombed it intentionally to kill civilians.

Motivation doesn't matter? I don't even know how to respond to that. No offense, but that is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. That goes against every single one of my moral premises.

Okay, so, let's say you have a choice (Oh, and pretend you're Jewish).

a) Hitler will gas you because he says your Jewish, and he doesn't like Jews.

or

b) You can die under bombs in a raid that people think might somehow help end the war against the worst human in the history of the world.

You would choose A because it's just as wrong to kill innocent civilians trying to stop a dictator as it is being killed by that dictator because of your race?

What the hell's the matter with you?

Sorry, I should explain this more fully - we were in a war to stop the senseless slaughter of innocents. Why would the greatest and most democratic nations on earth, the most righteous governments to ever exist, bomb a city simply to kill civilians? Especially when we could have used those bombs to kill SOLDIERS.

Plus: From Wikipedia:
The Allies described the operation as the justified bombing of a military and industrial target, which was a major rail transportation and communication centre, housing 110 factories and 50,000 workers in support of the German war effort

LOL hahaha. So you are trying to break down the killing on innocents in some sort of utilitarian point of view? DRESEDEN WASN'T OF ANY MILITARY SIGNIFICANCE. We didn't have to bomb it at all!

Yet we did it all the same! hahaha

I would like to hear why you think our government is "righteous".

lease read the rest of the wiki article, where basically everyone agrees that its was wrong to do. Plus Germany was only a few weeks away from a Surrender everyone knew was coming.

The key words in that sentance were "THINK," "MIGHT," and "SOMEHOW"

The Bill of Rights, for one. One of the most righteous documents since the Bible.
The right to vote, second. This right is unappreciated, and giving civilians a say in their government is one of the greatest things a government can do for it's people.

I'm sorry, but "think might and somehow" are not justifiable circumstances to bomb innocent men, women and children.

A lot of other countries have the same rights as we do, and some even have more liberties than we give to our own people.

Normally - no. In the case of Hitler - yes. If I thought it would have helped remove Hitler from power, I, who rail on for hours about the ultimate evil of suicide, would have shot myself right through the brain.

And they're righteous governments too, I never said they weren't.

I highly doubt you would kill yourself. Plus, taking your life is a pretty terrible sin, Christian. I just think its hilarious that you somehow think the people of Germany would be glad to have bombs rained down on them to get Hitler out of power. Plus, the Russians had the war won through most of the war. The US wasn't even needed.
