Um, did he forget what happened to him?

if it was that harmless the military wouldn't use it for interrogation. If it's as harmless as you say it is, they might as well not even use it.

Waterboarding is Torture… Period (Links Updated # 9) (SWJ Blog)

Agree with AEF. If waterboarding is so harmless, why do you think fundamental nutter terrorists who are only too willing to carry out suicide bombings will crack under the pressure of it?
Sure they would because it scares them. When you are in a state of fear you will talk.

So here's the $64,000 question. You have a prisoner. This prisoner is an absolute fanatic who would gladly give his life to kill you.

You want to find out if he has any information that could help you.

How do you effectively get that information in a way that doesn't mentally or physically harm or scare the prisoner?

He'll have to do some research, and get back to you on that one. :jk

If you can do nothing to even remotely harm or intimidate them, and you're not supposed to hold them more than a couple days....why even bother? No information of any degree of usefulness will ever be obtained. Heck, why even detain for questioning? We'll just accept the "unknown unknowns" and sit back and wait for bad shit.

I don't see any kind of interrogation being very effective in this case. Spying and infiltration I think would be much more effective.

someone like that, that already has a death wish won't give you any valuable information, they have nothing to lose.

Here's a quote from the article I just posted in response to AEF:

In the case of 9/11, U.S. intelligence officials were in the dark as to how exactly it was plotted because at the time KSM brought the idea to Osama bin Laden, the al Qaeda terrorist leader had just stopped using mobile telephones after media reports raised suspicions they were monitored by U.S. intelligence.

Spying wasn't working.
