What is the point of hating our troops?

Maybe Im seeing things the wrong way but AEF sometimes I get the impression that you are holding a grudge against the military or are jealous of them or something by some of the remarks you have made, not just in this thread but in previous threads as well.
No grudge, no jealousy. Sort of apathy, though. I just don't really care about them that much. I mean, yeah I support them in the fact that they are in a world of shit, but other than that?

*waits for pages of shit*

Look AEF like I said we serve to protect the rights of people like those kids and everyone else. Being is the service myself I just see certain actions as a slap in the face. It is just like with Vietnam. Why should our troops have to come back to people hating them. Now they are just the modern day Hippies who think they will make a change. I personally think people like that would wash out of boot camp on a psych discharge. Long before they would every make it to the field.

Its not about what "should" happen when they come back. Its the people's right in a democracy to voice distaste for anything they see fit. People don't have to like it.

I agree with you on that part. Have you not been reading what I have wrote. We serve to protect those rights for people. But it is BS that people exploit that right in such a negative way.

The meaning of assembling peacefully addresses the people in the protest being non-physically violent. What they say is protected under law. It would be different if the went over and started fighting them.

blah! It is very rude no matter how you look at it. How would you like it if someone showed up at your familys funeral protesting, no matter what the subject is about. Its very bad taste

Then the law is wrong then. The law in the USA has capital punishment as a means of punishment. You are one person who thinks that is wrong as you've stated on many occasions. Have you now changed your mind and believe it is right simply because it's law?

No, I don't think its right just because its a law. I think its right because its a corner stone of democracy (free speech), and when we have people deciding on what people can and cannot say in public, things get ugly.

I don't see how they are exploiting it. They just have an unpopular opinion.
On the subject of funerals. Why should a grieving family have to deal with some Modern day Hippie voicing their messed up beliefs at that point. I have a question for you. Do you have any one in your family who serve in the Military? If so How would you feel Knowing that these people are out there voicing thier believes near your dead relatives funeral?

Lets get one things straight: Voicing opposition to the war or the troops doesn't make you a "modern day hippie". It just makes you a person with an opinion.

I do have people in my family that are serving. My dad is retired military of 25 years in Vietnam. If I saw people near the funeral, I would be mad but at the same time you can't let your emotions get the best of you, its their right.

LMAO! You think people inciting hatred at funerals is less ugly???

BBC NEWS | Politics | Disabled hate crime law planned

This is the laws we have and that are coming into force in the UK. No ones democracy is affected at all unless they are a racist, gay bashing bully and I personally don't see anything wrong with stopping people running around in public loudly putting these views across and offending peaceful citizens who can't avoid them.
