When it all comes down to it you just cant trust politicians to solve things, no matter how valid a point of a president, a congressman or an ambassador there will always be some group of people who refuse to listen to reason. There are a great many things that the military solves without firing a shot. I understand that one of the greatest things about America is that we have freedom of speech but at one point you are taking it to far. These people should have no right.

Im interested to know who or what else does
Refer to tim's post, he took the words right out of my mouth.

"The President, the Senate, the House of representative, diplomats, ambassadors, etc.

They are all the very first line of peace. The military is nothing more than the muscle. Most peace deals and negotiations are not a result of the politicians threatening war, but by working out deals. We are not only a military super power, we are also an economic superpower with resources the rest of the world wants. And if they want to play ball with us, we don't have to threaten to destroy them, actually most deals involve economic gain."

Most people, such as terrorists, that are going to threaten our freedom could care less about peace deals and negotiations. So while I can appreciate what the President, the Senate, etc. do and the role they play in 'promoting' freedom - it is our men and women in uniform that put their lives on the line for this country when our freedom is threatened. Our freedom is secured by our military.
The terrorists aren't fighting us because of our freedoms.

One of the biggest scams ever is this administration convincing people that we are in some sort of dire, end game show down with terrorists that are going to take all of our freedoms away if we don't kill kill kill!!! The majority of it is fear mongering, thats all.

But what else is there? Without all of the soldiers that have served America we would be English if we were alive at all and even then we would have the English military protecting us. They are, perhaps not fully but a majority of, what is keeping us alive, safe and free. Think about it.
I'm not saying the military is not important, it is, but its not the only life line we have in our defense. Its the last line of defense.

Because you are American after the fact that you are Human. The men who choose to jump in front of bullets for us professionally do not deserve to be ripped on all day by these religious freaks who are sitting safely inside our borders.

So what do you propose happens to people that say things that you do not like? Jail? Fines?

See, you don't have to like what other people say, you don't have to listen. Welcome to America.

That is an ugly truth but i'm just saying that it shouldn't have to be like that, but do you really think it is okay for them to do that? People should be able to think what they want, but they still shouldn't say anything that comes to mind. At that point I do think it is alright for the authorities to pick them up and make them stop. Also, I do understand that what I just said is quite a bit radical, I just believe something should be done out of respect for those who risking their lives for us.

I don't agree with what they say, but its their right to say it.

What you propose can turn into a very dangerous slippery slope of what can and cannot be said in a democracy. If the authorities start picking people up because they disagree with what someone is saying, that will be an incredibly scary day in America. Actually, its already happening.

Do you agree that the soldiers are supposedly "fighting for our freedoms" in Iraq? If so, they are supposedly fighting for our rights as well, and that includes all of them. Now, wouldn't it be a disservice to the troops if the government started arresting people for exercising their rights that the troops are "fighting for"???

I'm not saying, arrest them for thinking differently, I'm saying arrest them for harassing someone or something like that. if I follow someone around with a big sign saying "look at this guy, hes a baby killer," someone is going to pick me up for some or other reason. Its just not right that just because our troops are out of the country fighting for us that people get to stain their image when all they did was decide to fight for America.

My personal belief is that the fighting in Iraq has shifted from fighting for our freedoms to bringing democracy to people who have only known poverty, totalitarianism and dictatorship. Why not enforce a good thing?

What they are doing isn't harassing, though. As much as they disgust me, I don't think it counts as harassment if they are thousands of miles away. Now, if they were following troops around constantly and doing what they are doing, THEN it would be considered harassment.

Don't be fooled, Iraq isn't about preserving our freedoms, at all. Its for resources and a permanent military presents in the middle east.

Don't you consider it harrassment though when they do these protests at the funerals of servicemen who have died while on active duty?

Those two bitches look like fucking kids. I am sorry about the language. But I am in the Military and I take some serious offense to shit heads like them. I do not completely agree with the war either. I think parts of it where intended the right way, and alot of it is just George Bush Bull Shit. But I still would not turn like a bitch and run if my time to go comes up. The sad thing is that people in the military serve to protect the rights of dumb asses like the ones in that photo. Fuck them.

Its not the kid's fault. They never had a chance to lead a normal life. They're been brainwashed since birth, most likely.

Maybe Im seeing things the wrong way but AEF sometimes I get the impression that you are holding a grudge against the military or are jealous of them or something by some of the remarks you have made, not just in this thread but in previous threads as well.
