If you consider the population of America a few thousand isn't that high. Again, I think its bad when people get killed, but I really don't see it as a gun issue, but the reasons that were behind the shooting, which is society. THAT is our problem. Society.

Also, the UK is far less violent in general than America. I certainly do not know why, but its not because of guns. Our society is fucked up.
 
My views...
The scariest times of my life was when I lived in a bad section in NJ. A few months after we moved in, the worst neighbors imaginable moved right across the street from us. I got my ass kicked by the bitch. And was affraid to walk my kids to the bus stop every single morning. We got a dog for protection and actually considered getting a gun. The only reason why we would have gotten a gun is because you cant get bullet proof vests for dogs. But with my 2 boys in the house... we didnt ever get one. So, anyway it sucked living there...I was scared out of my mind every single day. Sure, theres knives, bombs, whatever...but imo its a lot easier to kill someone with a shot to the head, even from a distance.
I wont let my boys play video games with guns on them. You can say thats just sheltering them from reality, but whatever. They dont need to see that... they are taught that theres "bad guys" in this world that want to do "bad things" to people.

Sorry Peter, but it's not that stupid. Did you read anything about the VT killings? He went on a shooting rampage, then stopped for TWO HOURS, then started again. The police were never even notified or knew anything of it until after he'd shot himself in the head. 4 hours after he'd begun his initial shooting rampage...

Had he wanted to kill more people, a knife is quite a bit more deadly if you want to keep stealthy. He had ample opportunity to slay these people and never be caught.

If you go on gun killing per population its still a lot higher than over here. I disagree with you about Americans being more fucked up than us as I like to have faith in human nature, but at least you admit this if you don't agree the laws are a problem, if I said it I would probably be acused of being racist.;)

My personal view is, I'd rather be prepared with the correct tool to defend my family then be caught off guard in a situation without one.

But, owning a firearm is a personal choice. If you don't want one then thats fine.

About video games, I think they do desensitize kids about violence, but do not make them violent, per say. I think its how they are raised.

Well yeah its higher because the black market for guns is HUGE over here. but again, even with the black market it isn't about the gun. The root of the problem is how people live. Its all about the unequal distribution of wealth, in my opinion.
 
I did a speech over gun control ( a shitty speech) but some of the facts were kind of surprising. Now about the gun deaths the most recent figures I could find for America, Canada, and England were in 2001 (could somebody try to find more recent numbers).

So here are the numbers for 2001:

America - 29,573

Canada - 842

England - 167

Now these aren't the most recent numbers, but still wow what the hell are we (the US) doing wrong?

Yeah, thats a good view to have. To be prepared with something and not be caught off guard. But I also couldnt live with myself IF for ANY reason my boys got a hold of that gun. No matter how many locks you put on something, mistakes happen. And I wouldnt be able to live with myself knowing that I am the reason for it.
Im still moving boxes around because we finally moved out of that hell whole, and my son came apon a paper that was all folded up, he asked what it was and I opened it up...it was a letter I wrote 2 years ago to my parents. I was so affraid that something was going to happen to me in that house. I wasnt affraid of getting my ass kicked again, or getting jumped or whatever, I was affraid of being shot. Because that bitch had no morals or values at all. She had a kid, and had a drug rade in her house several times. I guess you have to live in a situation like that to know fear.

The average person who goes on a rampage is slashing or shooting around randomly, now how is someone slashing randomly at you with a knife going to be more likely to kill loads of people than someone peppering a room with bullets from a sub machine gun?

Actually, they have safes and lock boxes now that require a finger print scan to open by the user alone. Its pretty much 100% safe. But yeah, I get what you're saying. Its all about teaching your children guns safety, that is key.

If you live or have lived anywhere near Philadelphia PA...turn on the news. Thats all you hear about is someone being shot in west philly.

Damn straight. It's terrifying that we live in a country where 17k suicides are being used to justify owning guns.

Maybe it doesn't present a danger to others, but a suicide is still a death. People who are suicidal can definitely be very creative when it comes to offing themselves, but I don't believe for a second that suicides would be anywhere near where they are if it wasn't so easy. With a gun, it's not like there's any going back once you've had the split second thought to pull the trigger.
