if im not mistaken, you all believe that there are no godlike beings, thus no afterlife. when you die, you die, end of discussion.

but i have a question...normally when you cannot remember something, its as if that never happened (like infant years). so when you die, your brain ceases to function, so you cant remember ANYTHING. therefore, from your perspective, you never existed.

once you die, you die. If someone remembers you, then lucky for you, you live on in people's memories for a few more years. That's that. Your body is a bunch of electrical impulses and chemical reactions. Once those stop, ur done.

Exactly. And if you don't believe in it you suffer for ETERNITY. That is one of the two reasons there are so many Christians. They want to believe that they are going to live forever in happiness. They also are extremely scared of burning forever. That is an extremely scary thought and puts people into religion out of shear terror.

I have always found it disturbing that a God would damn you to an eternity of suffering and torment for not believing in him. Our lives are not even a billionth of a second in time compared to an eternity. Our minds aren't even capable of understanding what eternity truly means, for once you think you have a grasp on how long that is, multiply it many billions of times more and your still not even close. How can this be a fair or just punishment applicable to anyone? Are you saying that burning in a lake of fire for all eternity is fair for the person that did not accept that there is a God as it is for the person that rapes, tortures and kills millions of innocents? Do they both deserve the same?
