Well he does have a point. Not too many of the non-believers are very respectful when it comes to these conversations either. Calling a belief that someone has had all their life a pipe dream, could be taken in an offensive manner. *shrugs* Her opinion doesnt bother me. But I'm just sayin. : )

In her opinion it is bullshit. In my opinion organized religion is just a legal way to make millions of dollars from bible thumping jesus freaks. You have NO idea how much money my mom gives to her church.
By all means, believe ANYTHING you want. Who am I or Ali to stop you? We're not trying to stop you.

Believe you me, I understand what you're saying to be truth for sho. I wasn't trying to shut him down at all, just trying to give advice to help him live a longer happier life.
Getting worked up about what people think is a waste of time and energy. Also, specifically in regards to religion, argument only drives people further from the truth. You can't pound somebody into believing what you believe. The old wind vs sunshine story comes to mind....

There is a familiar children’s fable about a wager between the North Wind and the Sun re-told by Nelson, Erwin, and Duffy in their book “Positive Discipline for Preschoolers”(1998):
A man was walking along the beach one day wearing a heavy woolen overcoat. The North Wind boasted to the Sun that he could make the man remove his overcoat. The Sun agreed to the bet and the North Wind began to blow. He blew steadily along the beach and the man buttoned up his coat. The North Wind blew harder and it turned icy cold, but the man held his coat about him more tightly. After a great deal of blustering and wild blowing, the North Wind surrendered.
Now the Sun took her turn. She shone brightly on the man, letting her warm rays caress him. Soon the man undid his coat. The Sun shone more brightly and the warmth increased. The man eventually removed his coat and the Sun won the wager (Nelson, Erwin & Duffy, 1998).

Has you guys thought of the good things religion has done to people? If there is no fear in God, then people can do whatever they want. There will be no point in having morality, standards in living then.

Sorry if that upsets you religious types but these things were done in the name of religion and I am appalled by them!

There are people who are misled by some false religions or teachings. Just cuz bad things happened by the cause of human actions, doesn't mean God doesn't exist. Do you rather have a perfect world full of robots or a inperfect world with free choices?

Sorry, all religions are false. People have killed in the name of God, Allah, Buddha, whatever. It's all false and it's all a giant waste of your human life to believe in a higher supreme being.
God loves you, but he'll smite you and send you to eternal damnation because you didn't use the free will he gave you to spend all xx or xxx amount of years you lived and breathed on this planet to worship "Him".
Love is your parents forgiving you for messing up as a child. Love is not them eternally damning you to juvenile hall until you were 18, and then getting you thrown in jail until the day you died.
You see how ridiculous it sounds when you put it into a mortal view point?
Religion is fucked up, the rules and consequences for sins based on free will is the most absurd teaching ever.
Most people believe that what ever violence , worst things happen due to God !!!! But the fact is that VIOLENCE is done by Humans and not by God, The purpose of we having this life is to serve the only purpose to prove the almighty tat we truly and deeply love him no watever happens our Love shud be pure..
Life after life is a phenomenon because souls have to come back again to clear their worst deeds they made in their exisitng life.......unless and until we don't clear our debts no one gets freedom from this life cycle... Science and Scientist will just keep wondering but the fact is that no one is ahead of the almighty god.
Instead of we critisizing the God for his existence we should strive hard to love and respect each others and above all our LORD himself, who is the cause of our birth. Our ultimate goal in life should be only to merge with the super soul and never take birth again on this EARTH which is a MYTH created by GOD also known as " MAYA "....
Atheists have formed a mind set that their is no concept such as GOD but by saying this they agree in a way that yes their is someone who controls everybody's ass out here !!!

By denying the existance of "God" how does one prove your point that someone controls us all?
You say that we agree, but that's a contradiction in agreeance vs denial.

Personally I seem to find its the religious people who can't seem to cope with the concept that others don't believe in God. If going to church works for you then go for it but please just accept that it dosen't work for me.
