Very entertaining game at Ewood park going on.

Liverpool were 2-0 up, but are pegged back to 2-2. Lost anotehr keeper to a red, and perhaps should have lost the next as well. Maxi scores twice, so will probably not play for the rest of the season so as to make way for Downing again next game. Dalglish in action.
Yakubu got both for Blackburn.

I know I don't belong here :ninja but just to say, I've been forced to watch a decent amount of football recent and frankly, Mario Balotelli makes it all worthwhile. It's very entertaining to see someone apparently doing whatever the fuck they want out there.

You poor thing :p
Mario's the man. Hopefully he'll be around for a while and nobody will try and "fix" him.

I've been watching on and off, along with the Barcelona game. Good game, not one for the defensive amongst us. Carroll finally scores, Blackburn must be shit.

A loss is hard on Blackburn though, they've played well and I kinda want them to stay up, purely because of the abuse Kean has suffered.

So lucky to keep Flanno and Jones on the field, even though Flanno had to be subbed off, but tough luck to Blackburn though. I know how Brad Jones feels at coming on, and being third-choice, as I'm third-choice goalkeeper/last-choice everything else, for my team and I've only played twice in the league as goalkeeper and center-forward respectively.

It would have been interesting had the referee took a less diplomatic view of the push on Yakubu, not only because an outfield player has to go in goal, but also about Sunday. I'm not even sure Liverpool have a fourth goalkeeper, so they would either have to sign one up from the youth team or call one back from loan. FWIW, I don't think it was a red card, it was only a push and Yakubu didn't have a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Personally I think you were unlucky to have Flanagan on the field in the first place. :D
Seriously, that kid is out of his depth at this level. The sending off was a blessing in disguise as it meant an enforced substitution.

Disgusting performance, lost to 1-0 to Wigan. Wigan worked hard enough, but we were shit. The gap is back to 5 points. But there were many bad performances tonight, Giggs and Rooney amongst them. If Wigan play this well they will stay up, unfortunately they haven't always. We never looked a threat. A few of these players need to take a long hard look at themselves because this performance was far from good enough. This is why Giggs can no longer play central midfield, losing far too many balls. We missed Scholes.

Beat Aston Villa 4-0 at home very comfortably to go back to 5 points clear. Could have been a few more but the general play was very good and the passing at times was just pure sex. Especially from the evergreen Paul Scholes and Carrick. Got an early penalty when Young went down udner a challenge from Clark, it was a penalty but the (Stevie) Starfish wasn't needed. Rooney duly dispatched it. Got the second importantly from Welbeck after a bad mistake in the Villa defence. The second half was a stroll in the park and the other two followed when Rooney swept home to make the points absolutely safe, despite having a under-par game scoring twice. Nani rounded it off nicely in injury time with his first goal since December. In the end a very nice comfortable win on a day when it could have been nervy. It's all about winning at this stage, but a very good performance thrown in is always handy.

young was looking for it,he knocked the ball in one direction and didn't follow it,he went towards the player...then if you watch carefully he dragged his left foot ensuring contact, then he dived...he now has the reputation of a cheat

He didn't follow it because clearly he was caught. It was a penalty, he just didn't need to to the starfish to follow up. Should have had another, Baker certainly handled the ball. Dwight Yorke and Sir Alex said it best, the defender makes contact, and it's not something a defender should do. He needs to work on that.

Watching the highlights now, we could have had 8 or 9 today, this wasn't even close, Villa couldn't live with us today.

It moved when the ball was hit towards him. It wouldn't have been the clearest handball ever, but it was.

No mention of Given's handball outside the area on MOTD I see, selective journalism. The linesman waved for it but the referee waves play off, just as well for Given because if he gives it, he's off.

hand to ball or ball to hand?

just to even it up a little,i think scholes yellow card was harsh,it looked to me like he tried to pull out of the challenge

In fairness it's a bit of both. I wouldn't have been surprised to see it given but I'm not devastated it wasn't. Though there was no big appeal.

I think the Scholes yellow was about fair, he was going for the ball but he's late and catches the guy. But that's the only thing he did wrong today, his passing was sublime, his vision is second to none. There's a reason he has pundits and players alike fawning over him. What a player he still is. I can't speak highly enough of him.
