Homophobia

yes, I agree and alot of homophobes seem to try and associate homosexuals with paedophiles. I suppose this is to justify their hate for it and make it wrong.

I'd love to know where that comes from exactly.

As if men who like other men therefore must like them AT ALL AGES!!!!!

But then, I'm guessing it ties up with the idea that homosexuality is a sexual perversion, and therefore they might as well be paedophiles, right?

I assume so, the same reason why some men "fear" gay men because they think they're going to try and rape them or something, like because they're attracted to men in general, they are attracted to every man in the world and couldn't control themselves :24:

Do you think this phobia is rooted in the OT story of Sodom and Gomorrah where the homosexuals supposedly were beating down the door so they could drag the male house guests out and rape them?

I think when a man abuses a boy, for instance, ALLLLL (I should say certain) people can see is "Omg look at them homos at it again! Is no man safe???"...when a man abuses a girl, it's just seen for what it is...pedophilia.
Same goes for women.

A married straight man who rapes a boy is not a homosexual, he is a pedophile. It's much more fun to blame this sickness on homosexuality, I guess.

maybe so, it does seem that alot of times the reasons for people being homophobic is because "God hates fags" etc

It is, unfortunately, the most common weapon for homophobes. I actually know an atheist who is a homophobe, and used said weapon. Cheap, I know. However, I feel that God loves all, regardless of what they do. But why not be grateful to the person who died for your sake and do how they would like you to do?

This is my opinion, not necessarily everyone's!

It also seems the hate is directed to men and not women. Somehow the idea of women-women is not repulsive to most in the way that man-man is. It is interesting how a distinction is made. I asked my question a few posts back because it seems overwhelmingly the word homosexual results in the imagery of male to male. I think if homosexuality were exclusive to women, no issue would be made of it.

Unless said women are Rosie O'Donnell-esque, then it's back to being wrong again.

Well, because I don't believe that story ;) But that's a whole other debate!

When you think about it like that, I reckon that maybe it's because, generally speaking (eventhough I hate to generalise) It's men who are homophobic, maybe that's because women are alot more comfortable with their sexuality then men are?

That is exactly what I meant. It is based on the Bible because of my faith. I was merely trying to show the personal logic on which I base my opinion. It is not a valid argument in itself, but it is strength for me.

Thank you for understanding.
