I'm a little confused Joseph, didn't you say exactly the same thing earlier in this thread? That you believe homosexuality is wrong?

I understand people can change their views on the world, but to go in the course of one thread from 'I believe it's unnatural' to 'aren't you being a bit cruel?' seems a little fast.

Are you perhaps not as concrete in your views as you first suggested?

In the same comment(?) I said that I am not with or against homosexuality. Rather, if I was forced to say yes or no (Which I forced on my own) I would say no. And additionally, I am against cruelty, which is why I commented as I did later. Sorry for the confusion.

So yeah, I'm not completely concrete on my opinion. Kinda went past the question on a tangent. Sorry.

My bad. Those that don't believe in it feel it is a choice.

So you chose to be straight? Or is it something you just KNOW?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I just KNOW that I am straight. It was never something I had to think about or chose...

Go away troll. I didn't say me. But I see you chose to be douchebag. Good choice, btw!

Nooo, the choice is only for the bad ones, duh.

Imagine a scale where at one end you only like those of the opposite sex and at the other you only like the same sex.

I think that the people who fall in between the two extremes are more prone to homophobia. Because if you are at the far end, you don't ever think about it. You know without a doubt that you are straight and there are never any doubts in your mind. But if you lie further up the scale, you have to "work" at being straight. Meaning there may be some attraction to the opposite sex, even if it's a little. And that scares them.
I imagine that people who are further up the scale may be the ones who are most afraid of those who are at the other end... :dunno

I think that's true in some cases but others I think it's just brainwashing to make you believe that being gay is wrong and unnatural

A very good analogy and an even better point, Tim. But there might also be exceptions, as in every rule. :)

Answer the question...

You said that you believe that people chose to be gay... if that's the case, then we all chose what sexual orientation we are... so that means you believe you had to chose to be straight.

You can't have it one way or the other. Either we chose our sexual orientation or we don't.

I know that I didn't chose to like women, it's just something that comes natural to me. Maybe it's not a natural feeling for you. :dunno

Absolutely, I wouldn't disagree with this at all.

I was just pointing out that I don't think the majority of people fit into the one extreme category or the other and this might play on the uneasiness....

I have heard the argument many times from homophobes that they "Chose" to be gay, and that tells me that they themselves believe sexuality is a choice... as if they had a point in their life that they needed to chose which way to go... maybe these are the ones in the middle of the scale.

It has to be that people who disagree with homosexuality/are homophobic feel like someone, somewhere gets harmed by homosexuality. Whether it's god's sentimentality, or children, or society, or themselves, etc...People with an irrational (because that's what it is) view of homosexuality as "wrong" have to somehow see it as destructive in order to justify holding this feeling, or they could be conflicted with their sexuality in some way. :dunno

yes, I agree and alot of homophobes seem to try and associate homosexuals with paedophiles. I suppose this is to justify their hate for it and make it wrong.

I'm curious. What is the most common image that comes to mind when straight people think of a homosexual?
Male-male? Female-female?

Stereotypes ruin the world, independent of who they are of. If it is of a majority then they have the power to say STFU. Not all homosexuals are pedophiles, not all people who are christian are homophobes, not all artists take weed, and so on. :)
