Maybe she will be wiser for this. People who make poor life decisions sometimes learn valuable lessons or maybe it will all be happily ever after!

One thing I will say, I like the drinking age laws here only because I have some diluted belief it may help with teen drunk driving a teeeeensy bit. I'm terrified of drunk drivers, and teen drivers... :eek

I don't think it's as bad as the 14 year old who married the 42 year old woman in Alabama. They started dating when he was 13. I remember watching them on Maury and she said something like "I buy him Pokémon cards then make cookies and help him with his homework."

Now that is messed up. She's basically saying she treats him like her son but is marrying him.........weird weird weird.

It's not patronising though, it's pretty plausible to suggest that you may actually feel different if you had a daughter.

I don't believe she intended to be patronuzing. As a parent when you deal with teenage children you do realize just how immature they really are at 16 or even 18. I think many here would have a different point of view if it was a 19 year old marrying a 16 year old. The fact that he is actually old enough to technically be her grandfather and she is so young is where the rub comes in for many of us. I would not have allowed my 16 year old daughter to date someone my age or older.

That isn't what I was saying at all. I was TRYING to say that that is one of the reasons I feel so strongly about it. So are you the only one entitled to an opinion on the situation?

Exactly. Personally I feel 16 is too young to get married anyway, but if it's to someone closer to their age it's much easier to accept.
