Homophobia in the US is strange. I was talking to a guy friend of mine about men being with men and women being with women sexually. It seems that it's considered ok by guyz to see, have sex with and just talk about lesbians but when it comes to gay men they cringe at the though about it.

On the other hand the women that I have as friends don't see any problem talking to gay guyz or about their relationships. However they don't want to actually watch gay men have sex. They don't mind having them as friends though.

SO what's the problem? Why is it ok for women to be lesbians or Bi-sexual but it's not ok for guyz to be gay in male Americans eyes? Also is it like this in other countries where gay men are frowned upon?

So what do you all think about this? Inquiring minds want to know!
 
I don't necessarily believe that it's homophobia. I think it's more along the lines as you don't find it attractive and don't want to see it. Like, for instance, I don't want to see two ugly people making out because I find them unattractive, not because I have a phobia of ugly people. I simply just don't want to see them in a sexual manner.

It's pretty bad in Spain. Spanish men have a real chip on their shoulder, all this machismo thing, and if you're gay over here you would do your best to hide it.

I have an openly gay friend, well, a total queen actually. He mainly sleeps with married Spanish men, of which he says there are a lot.

So I'd say it's probably more backward in Spain when it comes to that kind of thing.

Generally with American guys I think it's down to them not being particularly comfortable with their sexuality.

That's not the point that I'm trying to make. What I'm saying is why do men frown upon other men who are gay? I'm not just talking about watching. I want to stay more focused on the thoughts about why men think it's wrong for a man to be gay.
 
probably because hetero men dig lesbians as a turn on but not gay men, for to admit such would mean they were gay right? in truth i think there are more hetero men turned on the male form than would readily admit it, there are probbaly loads of closet bi sexual men that wont admit to it

Now that's what I'm talking about too! Why won't they admit it? Women don't have a problem admitting that they are lesbians or Bi-sexual....

because the violence that erupts at most pro-gay parades, rallies, etc is insane and the police do not want to do these details because they are afraid of what the other cops might think of them (that was from a friend of mine who works for the Police department in a city in Mass.)

i really dont know, i consider my self heterosexual but will say that i can appreciate homo eroticism, case in point the pictures of David Beckham in his underwear are frigging hot, i can see the appeal but they dont actually get my blood pumping but i fully understand why other men might be turned on
