It's really not as bad as it looks. It just bled profusely.
At least it's impressive. The worst thing I ever did to my face was drop my iphone on it when I was half-asleep and give myself a rubbish little bruise on my cheekbone. I told people I 'walked into a door' and made shifty eyes :ninja

Oh and since I'm doing pics this morning, here's our latest foal. He was born Saturday night. I've never seen so much white on a purebred Arab's face before.

I'm cold. 
It's wet and miserable outside. All I want to do is curl up under a blanket and do nothing tonight. But no, not only do I have to work tonight, they asked me to come in an hour early because we have a mare that could foal at any time. *sigh*

Well, I got a text right after that saying that that mare had just foaled. Yay. I missed another one.
How involved do you have to be with foaling? Does the horse just get on with it, or is it a case of a rubber gloves up to the elbows sorta thing?
Nah, the mare knows what to do. I'm just there to supervise in case she has trouble or something else goes wrong. And then I need to monitor things after to make sure the foal stands and nurses and poops and all that jazz.
None of the mares have had issues this year.
Last year we just had that one mare that needed help. We ended up losing her but that wasn't anyone's fault. The foal was just too big and she tore inside. At least we saved the foal.

my parents had one drop early this morning.. first one they have had in years and it's a Palomino which is what they were after.. course I had no idea they had any pregnant mares lmao I got a pic sent to my phone this morning... will have to send it to my other phone and upload it for you

So...I saw ducks in the middle of pasture 1. I know it rained here for two days but really??!??!
