I'm not sure. I suspect there are elements of socialism that most Americans would appreciate, however socialism is confused with the more extreme elements of communism and then, clearly, that's a no-no for an American (and indeed for many people)
This is the land of individual liberty ... or at least it was. That's the ideal it was founded upon; that's the way I'd like it to be.

Freedom cannot sustain any longer. Obama is introducing socialism on a piecemeal basis.

Because most uppercrust American's would rather die than to think they're in anyway equal to lower-middle class working Americans. Money rules all in this nation.

Europeans fear anyone who isn't like them. It's been that way throughout history. What they can't force to change to be like them, they destroy. It's a grand old tradition.

We are not a democracy like USA or Britain or Canada. I expected the chewing gum issue to crop up.
