There seems to be a huge paranoia in the USA about anything that might possibly swing even slightly to the left. What are you all so scared and paranoid of?

I'm not sure. I suspect there are elements of socialism that most Americans would appreciate, however socialism is confused with the more extreme elements of communism and then, clearly, that's a no-no for an American (and indeed for many people)

This is the land of individual liberty ... or at least it was. That's the ideal it was founded upon; that's the way I'd like it to be.

Because most uppercrust American's would rather die than to think they're in anyway equal to lower-middle class working Americans. Money rules all in this nation.

It's exactly because we are equal that we shouldn't make those who've built extra pay for those who could do for themselves but won't.

i dont understand why people think everyone should be socialist.

what's the fear and paranoia over people who dont want to be socialist?

i think this is a better and more fair question since this country was not socialist and i dont see a reason to change it. irrational hatred of rich people doesnt count as a reason, its a bullshit cop out.

Europeans fear anyone who isn't like them. It's been that way throughout history. What they can't force to change to be like them, they destroy. It's a grand old tradition.

And obviously the United States hasn't done anything like that in the past 50 years or so...

Oh wait.

One at a time your rights as an individual are being eaten away and in my opinion it will get worse. You are closer to being a police state now than you ever have been before.
