The flood has been proved to be nothing more than a myth, look at the fossil record and you will see it's a fact that it didn't happen. Same goes with the way the Bible describes how the earth was created, fossil record also shows a development and not everything appearing together at the same time on earth.

You mean the fossil record that has gaps. The fossil record that has been said doesn't support the theory of evolution?

Can't see belief in god dying but being a member of a church, I can. I know plenty of people who still believe in god but very few who go to church. People are learning to think for themselves more and more and like to make their own mind up about what god requires of them and not be told by some dog collared man what they should and shouldn't be doing. That said, I'm only going by what I see in my own country and in regards to Christianity. It seems that the USA is definately more religious than the UK and also, worldwide, Islam definately seems to be going from strength to strength.

As we learn more and gain an even better understanding of our Universe, I don't believe the idea of God will go away completely, but unless he/she/it gets fed up and makes a miraculous appearance, I think the move will be towards the concept of a more abstract ,remote, spiritual God. Not one who meddles in our lives, rewards and punishes us based on how we act in this life. I've said it many times, but if you look at an average 70 year old human live, then compare it with spiritual eternity, this time is just a flash in the pan. If our existence continues, there will be lots more opportunity to improve ourselves. Only a dufus God would try to judge us on a measly 70 years. A sizable % of humanity lives their lives in a stupid fashion. :) The live good= heaven, live bad= hell is a human invention.

Just look at the rules and where they come from. If that is not enough to question I don't know what is. ;)

No worries on answering the question... whether it be 100 years or 200 years..... I've heard it's all gonna be over in December 2012 anyway. :humm:

Shit. I'm going home.....

I already pulled my youngest kids aside and told them that they are going to be hearing all this bullshit about the end of the this year. I told them not to listen to any of it.

Many people in the secular crowd 100 years ago were predicting the death of God in the next 100 years. But instead of God dying they witnessed the birth of fundamentalism. Predictions are tricky. It's very difficult to guess what will happen in the next 100 years.

That seems natural. When your opponent grows, you become more fierce in your own stance else you whither away.

I was brought up in a very religious, Christian cult that have so far predicted the end of the world three times and been proved wrong on all occasions. They just change their mind with "new understanding" yet contradict themselves by the fact they believe their leaders hear the truth through Jesus, straight from god. They also believe that god knows all and is infalliable, either they are lying or god isn't infalliable.

Quite the opposite actually. I think that perhaps the 2 ("religion" and science) may even reconcile...although I am loathe to use the word "religion"

And now you are looking to science....hmmm...Yeah, many people have others to tell them what to believe instead of looking for thier own answers. Alot of people seem to believe all that science tells them but when asked to explain anything they can't because they don't know much about science. They only know what they have been told by others. Same shit, different cult.
