if I was the one in your place I would let the baby die so I could live even though I will never forgive myself for doing that...

If you believe in God or a Higher Power... that may help you find forgiveness in time..... although the memory will remain.

If you don't believe.... the memory will remain ... but again in time... you won't feel the pain of such a decision as intensely.... and eventually you will determine the decision was the right one for you at the time... and then you can forgive yourself.

questions like this to me don't have any answer. the way i see it if the situation was real, one of them would die regardless of my position on the matter, so why choose?

I answered the poll...

But I think the mother should live. I'm 7 months pregnant now, and if it came down to it my husband and I would choose my life over the baby's during labor.

I'm a daughter to someone, I'm a sister to someone, I'm a wife and a mother already. We couldn't leave our child now, motherless.

If I didn't have a child already, I know the decision would be harder...but I would still want my life to be choosen...even though I've made a bond with the baby, it's a life that I still don't know...and as selfish as it sounds can try again at.

...unless my husband wanted to really get rid of me lol

like i explained if the situation was real, one or the other would die regardless of my opinion, so I would choose not to decide.

so if it was your wife, you would let fate take it's place and not decide?

Then you're opinion doesn't matter on anything on this forum...i mean this kind of situation is real...just like with almost everything else in the debate section lol. Like I said, I'm not making this stuff up.

no no - he is saying that even if he decided that it really wouldn't matter because he thinks fate would happen either way.

I'd like to think I would give the child a shot at life, and let my family love me through it. But when push comes to shove.... my ass ain't going 6 feet under anytime soon, God willing.

I agree with all of your points though, Alicia. You have a life and a network of friends and family who love you and maybe even depend on you. The baby has nothing but you and Daddy. And it doesn't even know that.

Although, now I wonder how much babies do understand...

99% of Pro-Lifers agree that in this situation, the mother should be saved.

I see what you're getting at with your question, but it doesn’t really work. The question demands a death.

I would choose to save my wife's life, as would most people. Not because I think abortion is right, but because if the only choice is who dies, then you have to go to the backup idea of 'who has more to live for.' The mother is the usual choice.

If given the choice of two living children, and you HAD to let one die, how do you choose? Does the one you let fall mean any less to you, or was he any less alive? ... No, of course not. But life is hard, and sometimes these choices have to be made.

IMO, this is a hugely different decision than the idea of a child being an inconvenience, and therefore should just be killed. If a mother-to-be gets knocked up irresponsibly, then IMO she should man up, put in her 9 months, and give the baby up for adoption.

the mother, she's lived a longer life and she can always try and concieve again. A baby can't conceive until they're at least in their teens (well most babies.... )

If it was a choice between mother or baby that if the baby was born the mother dies and vise versa, then the baby should be aborted.
