No they make people think they are your friend.
So....any one of us can be a troll then....is that what you're saying?
No they make people think they are your friend.
Actually they hang around long enough to make lots of enemies until moderators eject them. This is a general statement not pointed at anyone in particular.
:24::24::24:making enemies or friends is not the point, it's the people who ruin threads with idle twitching and who indulge in argument just for the sake of argument!

trolls will always garner some friends
It is part and parcel of their act
There are different types of trolls. Some count on making friends to keep the shit stirred
And sometimes one has to look at who the friends are. As it is not uncommon for trolls to work in groups

Oh, are talking about anyone who disagrees with you? I'm afraid there are lots and lots of them around here.
So,..everybody who's ever been banned is a troll?
Almost as many as those who disagree with you.
I never said that and I don't know where you're getting that from. The OP asked what a troll is and I am simply explaining the behavior of trolls. I have been a MOD on numerous boards and an admin on 2 and I have plenty of experience learning about trolls and how they operate.So....any one of us can be a troll then....is that what you're saying?
Huh, how did you reach that conclusion about what I ment? Trolls eventually are ejected, however they are not the only ones in a forum subject to ejection. Flagrantly violating forum rules can result in ejection. Trolling is just one of several infractions.

Are you trying to feed your 'opinion' on mods?? do you believe you are more intelligent than them??
Well.... I started this thread.... So it's only fair that I give an answer myself.
To me.... a Troll is a person who is hiding behind (in this case) an internet identity..... and spouting (posting) his/her beliefs or opinions in such a manner as to cause a commotion. The more commotion he/she begets..... the bigger his/her ego gets.... thus causing others to spout (post) their own beliefs or opinions further bolstering the Troll's ego or lust for this power over others. The others cannot pull away and continue to 'feed' the Troll.... thus continuing the conflict until something has to give.... or someone has to go.
A Troll's life on a forum can end two ways....
1. Ban him/her
2. Troll realizes his/her behavior is that of a Troll.... and wanting to make amends and actually be a non-Troll like poster..... he/she changes Troll like behavior...... before #1 takes affect.
That's how I view it anyway.
Are we able to give a Troll-like member the benefit of a doubt? A chance to redeem him/herself? Even if it's only very slim?
I suppose time will tell in most cases.
My definition, not based on anyone on this site, is just someone who goes onto a forum to stir shit.
A troll doesn't usually stick around long enough to make friends.......
A person who posts with the intent of being annoying and/or causing conflict.
